Your guide to the finest needles in Singapore for creative (and permanent) tattoos.
It’s a rarity these days to walk down a street in Singapore without coming across someone decorated with some form of ink on their skin, whether visible or discreet. In the same vein, the city has no shortage of great tattoo parlours for all your inking endeavours. We’re even proud to say that there’s been a rise in young and talented local handpoke tattoo artists. Their brilliant hands ink intricate and punchy designs using the traditional machine-free, stick-and-poke method.
If you’re looking to finally get your inaugural piece or grow your collection of storied body art, this list of awesome tattoo studios and artists in Singapore will put you in the right place, and hands.

2. Studio Teddy
If there was an award for the cutest studio space ever, Studio Teddy would win, hands down. Fans of pastel colours, fine line work, and cute animals should flock over to this tattoo parlour. The cosy space will have you all relaxed and ready for your session. Personally, we’re big fans of tattoo artist Elise’s delicate and detailed linework, and Deck’s adorably chonky cat designs.

3. Elvin Tattoo
Elvin Yong is big on social media – his Facebook and Instagram page boasts over 100k likes and 100k followers respectively, the last we checked. This only means one thing, he is good. Large-scale black and grey pieces of various styles from surrealism to realistic portraits are his specialties, though we think Elvin is also extremely well-versed in colour.

4. Singapore Electric by Gimmelovetattoo
If you dig neo-Japanese style body art (read: yakuza-type tattoos), Augustine’s your guy. Little wonder why: the laidback, detail-oriented tattooist did his apprenticeship in Japan before opening his own studio. He’s also brilliant in colour, strong lines and amazing fluidity in big body pieces.

6. Of Gods and Monsters
Fun fact: Owner and tattooist Samuel Yar actually made his own tattoo machine after getting his first tattoo at 18 years old. Talk about an obsession! He has a distinctive oriental flair – think brushstrokes and Asian subjects like geishas, dragons and deities – and is exceptionally skilled in injecting soul and intrigue into eyes, which, in our opinion, is pretty rare in the world of art.

7. Vagabond Ink
This tattoo parlour in Chinatown is home to uber-cool folks: Peenut Lee, Andrew Lim, Natalie Wee and Alison Yen. It all boils down to what you’re looking for.
