Think you can give your phone up for six hours? Then this is the retreat we promise you need.
And before you know it, it’s almost the end of January. While we’ve made a headstart on our fitness (and grudgingly with our diets), we’re lagging behind in our much-needed resolution to chill the heck out. It’s easier said than done, especially in this digital age. We know all too well the anxious feeling caused by FoMO (fear of missing out) in social media. How many times have you tried to take a power nap, only to find yourself refreshing your Instagram feed or inbox by reflex? We rest our case.
Unsurprisingly, a new breed of retreats have cropped up to help us disconnect. Kicking off this phenomenon is Auriga Spa’s Digital Detox Spa Retreat. Happening on 2 February from 11am to 5pm, the retreat encourages you to switch off all your devices to reconnect with yourself. It starts with an hour-long meditation class to release any tension and stress. You’ll then break for light refreshments (includes pre-treatment oral supplements) before embarking on a two hour spa ritual. This encompasses a thirty minute body salt scrub, a 90-minute massage to ease upper body and head tension (from excessive smartphone and laptop use), use of the spa’s gorgeous facilities and Afternoon Tea at Capella’s Chef’s Table.
But don’t fret if you can’t squeeze in an appointment on 2 February. The spa also offers the ritual sans the meditation class (but with a covetable Aesop door gift) from January to February and is priced at $350++.
