Hands down, the Longchamp Le Pliage nylon bag has to be the most popular bag in Singapore. It’s stylish, comes in an array of colours and amazing prints, it’s hard-wearing and really affordable.
If you take a look around Singapore at the bags that people are carrying you’ll realise that Longchamp’s Le Pliage nylon bags have a pretty good hold on the market. These are the bags that you can fold-up, have two handy top handles plus a great shoulder strap. They are practically indestructible, even in Singapore’s wet and steamy weather, and so affordable that you can easily buy one in every colour you want.
Le Pliage bags come in a variety of different sizes – everything from mini for a quick lunch run, to enormous enough to use as your extra travelling bag (I always, always take my Le Pliage Cuir, the leather version, on every trip for extra shopping buys). The Le Pliage Classic is the version with tan leather handles and top flap; the Le Pliage Cuir is the full leather version – that’s totally still foldable! – and the Le Pliage Neo which has tone-on-tone leather and a slightly more padded shoulder strap.
There are way more colour ways available than I can list here – just step into a Longchamp store and you’ll see a huge rainbow-hue display wall – plus the brand also does super cool collaborations with major designers and artists like Jeremy Scott.
For the Spring Summer 2017 season, Longchamp has released some super cute prints in the Le Pliage Cuir Fleuri bags and the Le Pliage Cuir Rayé with stripes making it perfect for guys and for travel.
The Longchamp Le Pliage Cuir Fleuri bags cost between $1,190 for the smaller ladies bag and $1,995 for the larger travel bag. The Le Pliage Cuir Rayé costs from $785 for the small size, and up to $1,030 for large size. The Le Pliage Classic nylon versions start from $250 upwards.

On top of the Le Pliage, however, Longchamp also has a huge number of other bag styles and one of our favourites, the Roseau 1948, now has an exclusive, Singapore-only version.
This new limited edition bag is the perfect buy for anyone who’s looking for a very unique Singapore souvenir. The Roseau 1948 bag is a jacquard canvas tote trimmed with navy cowhide leather and is plastered with Longchamp icons like a galloping horse and a horseshoe, and ‘Singapore’ of course.
