I’ve been active…
… the moment I could start walking! My parents couldn’t deal with the amount of energy I had, so they let me work it off with a new sport every time – be it basketball, cycling, roller-blading, football or just running around.
I decided to become a personal trainer…
… because I’ve always had the knack for helping and teaching people. I was actually supposed to be an air stewardess, but after one makeup class, I said, “Sod that! I want to become a trainer instead”.
I first started lifting weights…
… when I was 16, only because I thought there were so many cute guys at the gym [laughs].
The biggest misconception about personal trainers…
… is that that we’re stupid and body-obsessed – not true! Also, people think that gyms are very scary places with massive men grunting and chugging protein shakes (ok, partially true). But a lot of gyms nowadays cater to everyone.
My day starts…
… with a healthy breakfast on the go (typically fruit and nuts). Once I’m done training my clients, I’ll either head home for a nap (rest is very important to me) or hang out at the gym to do a short circuit.
My fave workout move…
… is squats! Anything for the booty, as I’m quite flat if I don’t train that part of my body.
I don’t really have a diet…
… but I have recently started eating sustainably after realising that it is possible to do your part in saving the earth. I’ve cut down my meat intake, and only have them as treats if I eat out and there aren’t any options. But I do eat a lot of carbohydrates!
My favourite guilty pleasure…
… is a breakfast bowl of ice-cream and cereal with lots of peanut butter, honey, and maple syrup. And no, I don’t have cheat days because I eat what I want when I crave it – whether it’s gummy bears or a piece of chocolate.
On days when I don’t feel like working out…
… I simply don’t! That’s my body telling me that it needs a break, so I go home, take a nap, watch Netflix or get a massage.
The strangest thing that has ever happened to me while working out…
… was when my tampon came out. Let’s just leave it at that.
A mantra I swear by is…
… if you don’t like something, change it.
If I wasn’t a personal trainer…
… I’d be obese! Seeing how much I eat, being a personal trainer keeps me in check.
