Serving up assam laksa, Penang char kway teow, rojak, Teochew cendol and many more, this all-you-can-eat buffet is a must-visit if you’re craving Malaysian hawker food!
Penang street food is totally where it’s at; often hailed as a foodie paradise, this Malaysian state punches well above its weight when it comes to all things gastronomic. From slurp-worthy assam laksa and delish char kway teow, to sweet spicy rojak and cooling cendol; the list of drool-inducing street grub is endless. Don’t fancy trekking North to hit yourself up with a Malaysian foodie fix? Well, now you don’t have to; 10 at Claymore Pan Pacific Orchard is bringing a little taste of the Pearl of the Orient to Singapore with a Penang fiesta buffet featuring all of your favourite Penang dishes. Catch it quick; it’s only available for dinner during April and May!
This Malaysian buffet isn’t all talk and no taste; Executive Chef, Andy Oh, hails from Penang, so you can expect authentic flavours true to his local roots. We stopped by recently and tried it for ourselves; it’s a generous spread, so go armed with an empty stomach.
The menu is packed with Penang classics including char kway teow with blue crab lump meat (an award winning dish for Chef Oh, and rightfully so), assam laksa with barramundi fillet (a welcome fancy addition), bak kut teh with kurobuta belly ribs (delish), and king prawn noodle broth (we went back for seconds). And be sure to save space for dessert, ’cos the Teochew cendol is a must.
Still wanna get a taste of Penang, but afraid of your boss nagging at you for taking too long during lunch break? No problemo! Catch a break from the office, and pamper your palate with the Authentic Penang Express Lunch, a three-course set every weekday from April to May. You’ll start off with a chicken “lor bak”, followed by one of the aforementioned mains, and the cendol to revitalise you for the rest of the workday. And all this for just $16? Steal alert!
Whether you’re a die-hard fan of Penang flavours, or have never tried these must-nom dishes before, we say get yourself down to this street-food fiesta and eat your way ’round these delectable delicacies from Penang.
