Where to go for outdoor fun in Singapore
Mount Faber
If mornings aren’t your favourite time of the day, a scenic morning drive might just change that. Start the day with a stunning drive up Mount Faber that’s guaranteed to put you in a good mood. And you don’t have to feel uneasy about the uphill drive when you have the Jeep Gladiator to count on. With impressive torque and manoeuvrability, this ride will take you up to Mount Faber Peak with ease. Once you’re there, expect stunning views and plenty of photo ops for the ‘gram.
Just put on your favourite playlist and rev it up! We’re giving brownie points for the speakers’ location at the top of the car frame, which diffuses the sound much more evenly than conventional speaker placements. Petition for all vehicles to have this level of acoustics from this day forth, we say.
Kranji countryside
Escape the hectic city and spend a few hours in nature. The Kranji area is the closest thing we have to a countryside and we’re making full use of its tranquility to unwind. Tour its agriculture farms and fisheries, shop at the farmers’ market and brunch at one of the rustic cafes for a peek into countryside living. We’re already feeling more relaxed just dreaming about a day away from the city…
For the best experience, take in the fresh air with a breezy open-air drive on the Jeep Gladiator. Unlike the usual metal roofs, its removable panels are made of fiberglass, which is lighter and easier to remove (but safer than fabric tops). Simply unclip the black locks above the driver and front passenger seat, lift up the removable panels and you’ll have an open roof. This is the only truck in Singapore that can go topless in this manner, so get ready to enjoy the wind in your hair and the sun on your skin!
Seletar Aerospace Park
Want to nail a romantic date? Take your partner for a sunset picnic. We recommend driving to Seletar Aerospace Park for this endeavour – it’s a serene, green destination away from the hustle and bustle of the city. Bring along your picnic supplies and set up a cosy date on the Jeep Gladiator’s truck bed. We’ve tried and tested this picnic idea to pleasing results: take it from us, it’s spacious enough to fit a couple with room to spare.
Within Seletar Aerospace Park, you’ll also find a smattering of cafes if you’re keen on a spot of cafe-hopping (or if you find it a hassle to prep your own food). And don’t miss checking out the community edible garden for its herbs and veggies. We bet you didn’t know that there was so much to do at this secluded location! Come nightfall, you can admire the stars while laying on the truck bed, too. How’s that for romance?
East Coast Park
It’s easy to feel ‘meh’ about off-days when we aren’t allowed to scoot off for weekend getaways whenever we like. An easy way to boost your mood? Get the adrenaline going! For those who aren’t a fan of intense workouts or extreme sports, fret not: we’re talking about a leisurely seaside bike ride at East Coast Park. Bonus points for helping us clock in a workout that doesn’t feel like a chore! Swing by this popular outdoor spot in Singapore in the late afternoon for the perfect amount of sun.
Conveniently, the Jeep Gladiator can fit up to a family of five and five bicycles in the truck bed. Pro tip: to avoid scratches, lay a mat or piece of cardboard before loading up the bikes. The truck bed features a handy roll-up fabric cover (there’s also a catch on either side to keep this locked while driving that makes unloading a breeze).
Now, that’s your weekend plans for a whole month, sorted! We thoroughly enjoyed our exploration and our ride – this vehicle is a versatile workhorse that can be used to transport bulky items, while being useful for recreational purposes as well.
