Head to The Float @ Marina Bay for artisanal bites, a cool bazaar featuring local works and designs, street performances, and of course, fireworks
You might already know about Marina Bay Singapore Countdown 2018 when we gave you the lowdown here, but can’t help but tell you more about what’s happening at this countdown hub. As it turns out, a grand fireworks display isn’t the only thing to expect at The Float @ Marina Bay. In fact, you’ll be in for a treat with all the exciting activities taking place around The Float come 31 December 2017.
The buzz starts at 5pm with the Countdown Market located along the nearby F1 tracks. Take a walk around and check out more than 30 vendors selling all sorts of trendy, tasty creations – think rainbow bagels, the smoky Dragon’s Breath, and light bulb drinks (which are literally beverages served in light bulbs) – along with made-in-Singapore craft works and accessories. Look out for quirky illustrations by artist Laugh And Belly, addictive salted egg yolk chips by Yolkalicicous and handmade canvas bags by The Everyday Club.
There will be other fun activities going on at The Float, too. Head to the photo booth to snap pictures with your posse before the year ends, or drop by Out and Ink’s booth for a temporary tattoo. Music lovers can look forward to local buskers performing live sets from 7 to 11.30pm, with acts that include a beatboxing and cajon (a Peruvian box-shaped percussion instrument) performance.
Before midnight, pick a spot at The Float to view the fireworks show (tickets are $8 at the door and $5.50 online, here). The seating gallery and floating platform both serve as free and easy areas for you to set up camp. Feel free to bring your own picnic mat to the event – there’s nothing like celebrating 2018 in the great outdoors!
