Because the late shows are always the ones for indulgence
Weekday lunches mean a welcome respite from work, but at the expense of pushing through human traffic. On afternoons where you’re just not up to dealing with the horde, take the short excursion towards Marina Bay for classic comfort fare at LAVO Italian Restaurant & Rooftop Bar, served alongside a sweeping view of the city. We’ve done the legwork by counting down the hours for you, and here’s how we picture an ideal afternoon.
2.30pm:
You’re finishing up a meeting and have fought through the hunger pangs. The need for sustenance calls, and you want proper nosh, not just a cold sandwich. At this hour, where most lunch joints are sadly shuttered, what gives?
Perched on the 57th storey of Marina Bay Sands Hotel Tower 1, and just 10 minutes from the heart of the CBD, consider this contemporary rooftop bar an elevated refuge away from the noise of traffic below.
3.30pm:
The Italian joint is known for its too-hip-for-school swagger, celeb clientele and lively atmosphere, thanks to the pulsing music from its fully-equipped DJ booth. Oh, and there’s also the Marina Bay skyline from the rooftop bar, which is kind of a big deal. But evening buzz aside, between 3.30 and 5pm, it’s a haven for hungry diners who want a hearty mid-afternoon meal.
True to the restaurant’s Italian-American menu, you can curl up in a leather booth with a juicy prime beef burger, served with crisp truffle fries, or tear into a classic margherita pizza. Wash it all down with a bottle of Peroni, and pronounce yourself satisfied. At $28++, it’s money well spent.
5pm:
Full to the gills? Don’t feel like you’re overstaying your welcome. We’re willing to put money that you’ll linger a little longer when you hear the magic words of ‘One for One cocktails’. From 5 to 7pm, experience a pre-dinner indulgence of the restaurant’s Aperitivo. Call a friend or two to duck out of work early, or if it’s been a hard day, we won’t judge if you need the liquid courage of both drinks to get through the week.
Three of the bar’s signature cocktails are in consideration for this deal: Frozé, a blended Rosé slushie with fresh raspberry syrup, the reinvented classic Mule with piquant ginger, and Dragon Spritz which pairs Aperol Spritz with the brightness of dragonfruit. You may now retire to the open outdoor terrace with your drink(s) in hand for a gratifying end of the afternoon.
7pm:
Roll on out – and count yourself satisfied.
