Filter it out
Let’s admit it, real life looks so much better with a filter. Now that nobody uses Instagram’s own preset filter for their picture, you might want to download these photo editing apps. No smartphone in whole world should exist without one of these – Vsco, Adobe Photoshop Lightroom CC and Snapseed by Google. Yes, there are a million other apps to edit photographs, but these three come up on top for their well curated presets, fun effects (bokeh forever), the level of control they provide and their easy-to-use interface. Protip: Wanna homogeneous and aesthetically pleasing feed? These three apps allow you to custom create filters and save them for real quick edits.

The essential clean-up
Took a perfectly timed #OOTD, only to realise later that you’ve got a random human photobombing your shot. All you need is a good clean up before publishing it on Instastories or the all-holy feed. Ideal for those who are extra particular about their pictures *cough OCD*, apps like these will let you “heal” your pics of unwanted crap. TouchRetouch tops the list in paid apps while Adobe Photoshop Fix and Snapseed are fast, free and easy for snappy corrections. You can spot heal, stamp and even clone areas with them.

#AnnoyingHashtags
Hashtags are like vitamin pills – no one like them and everyone needs them. A strong hashtag strategy can go a long, long way, but thinking them up can tedious and boring AF. That’s why we’re loving Hashtagify that automatically generates a spify list of 30 hashtags. Just upload a picture, let the AI do its bit and boom!
Tip: Don’t want to download an app just to generate hashtags? That’s okay. You can use All-Hashtag.com on your mobile browser too. Type in your keyword, choose the kind of hashtags you want (top, random or live) and hit generate.

Caption That
Have the perfect picture edited and corrected but can’t think of a caption? Don’t let that hold you back. So what if you’re friend’s captions are on point all the time. You’re a unique snowflake and your friend also probably uses the Captions for Instagram and Facebook app. There are a few captioning apps around that let you filter via keywords, category and all. Worth a shot if you’re really short of words and would rather have your picture/video do all the talking

Video Ga-Ga
One of the most disruptive updates on Instagram this year has been the introduction of IGTV. Plus, we can now upload 10 second videos on Instastories and 60 second videos on the feed. With Boomerang, Slo-Mo and Reverse options available in-app on Instastories, you don’t have to look to far or be an expert videographer to hit record.
Wanna timelapse? Chances are your phone’s video recording option allows you to take timelapse videos (look around) but if it doesn’t, Framelapse (for Android) and Hyperlapse (for iOS) might come of use. Take a video like you’d normally do, throw on a filter and adjust the speed for a fabulous time lapse video. Need to make a quick trims and cuts to a video? FilmoraGo comes to the rescue.
