In the first edition of Hot New Cafes 2017: Greyhound, Fynn’s, Pololi, and more
Happy New Year to all you foodies, coffee junkies, and café hunters! 2017 is definitely starting on a delicious note – that’s why we’re kicking things off with a smorgasbord of cafés and dessert hangouts to choose from. Whether you’re looking to satisfy your sweet tooth, try out Bangkok’s latest import or get clued in on the poké craze, find them all here in our first edition of Hot New Cafes for 2017.
Fynn’s
There are plenty of reasons to be stoked about the new South Beach development – one of our personal favourites is Fynn’s. At first glance, this modern all-day dining café is pure Instagram fodder: think white-washed walls, hip light fixtures, and marble tables. But that’s not all it offers: Fynn’s serves up a comforting mix of hearty burgers, salads, and sandwiches. Be sure to check out the weekend brunch menu for savoury classics and inventive desserts such as Fynn’s chia seed pudding and vanilla tot cakes.
Fynn’s, #B1-21 South Beach Avenue, 26 Beach Road, Singapore 189768, p. 6384 1878. Open Mon-Fri 8am-8pm, Sat 11am-8pm.
Greyhound Café
If you’ve ever been to Bangkok, Greyhound is a name you’re probably already familiar with – after all, it is practically a tourist attraction in itself! Lucky for us local fans, the chic Thai eatery has opened its first Singapore branch right in the heart of Orchard. Along with it comes signature Insta-worthy fusion dishes, namely the Famous Fried Chicken Wings and Complicated Noodle. For the full lowdown on Greyhound Café, read our review here.
Greyhound Café, #01-25/25A, Paragon, 290 Orchard Road, Singapore 238859. p. 6235 407.
Apiary
Neil Road welcomes yet another addition to its café scene with a new dessert hangout, Apiary. This cosy yet minimalist space sure knows how to hit the sweet spot with its menu of tarts, waffles (charcoal or plain) and ice creams – flavours on offer include classics like matcha and black sesame, plus other inventive options such Thai green tea, Earl Grey lavender, and bergamot sorbet. Need a perk-me-up? One must-try is the Apiary Blend, which is specially roasted by Two Degrees North Coffee Roasters.
Apiary, 84 Neil Road, Singapore 088844, p. 6493 7273. Open Sun-Thu 12pm-10pm, Fri-Sat 12pm-12am.
Pololi
It looks like the poké craze in Singapore is still going strong. Joining the ranks of A Poké Theory and Aloha Poké in the Telok Ayer area is Pololi. Hailing from Hong Kong, Pololi certainly doesn’t mess around when it comes to variety: it offers 20 different flavours (with five on rotation daily) ranging from yuzu salmon to sweet onion teriyaki swordfish, Thai spicy tuna, and even a locally-inspired sambal – definitely the ideal takeaway lunch bite that won’t leave you feeling guilty.
Pololi, 51 Telok Ayer Street, Singapore 048441. Open Mon-Tue 1130am-3pm, Wed-Thu 1130am-6pm, Fri 1130am-10pm.
Creamery Boutique Ice Creams
Following its success in Bangkok, Kuala Lumpur, and Johor Bahru, Creamery Boutique Ice has finally come to Singapore – it’s about time! Trust us when we say that your day’s about to get a whole lot sweeter: the dessert chain specialises in luscious, melt-in-your-mouth lava cookies topped with homemade ice-cream. With one-of-a-kind flavours to choose from such as Guinness, vanilla rosemary, berry cheesecake, and tiramisu, consider this the stuff of your #foodporn fantasies.
Creamery Boutique Ice Creams, #01-03, 139 Tyrwhitt Road, Singapore 207557.
