Singapore is spilling over with bars and pubs and we’ve got new haunts to add to the list
‘Tis the season of excessive socially acceptable drinking. It’s not hard to find a bar to love Singapore, and chances are you already have regular haunts. This season, go and experiment a smidge – tap into a whole new world of tipples at these hot new bars.
The Other Roof
From the team that gave us The Other Room, comes a tea bar… literally! The Other Roof at Ann Siang House is a rooftop destination that wants to introduce a tea to your pub situations. Perhaps the only bar in the world that does tea-based spirits, it’s also got a hot view of Chinatown and the CBD. Things have been brewing for a whole – Dario Knox and Macarena Rotgers sourced tea leaves from all over the world, made their own blend and infused spirits with it in-house! The result? A laidback bar, 300 odd tea-infused spirits, countless tailor-made cocktails and a new place to par-tea! Our custom and complex cocktail – bohemian raspberry finished gin mare – was a lil’ sweet, a lil sour and mighty potent. Just the way we like it!

Eliza
Telok Ayer Street might just have a new landmark. Sure it’s too soon to tell, Eliza soft launched on 22 Oct, but we have a good feeling about this modern Asian bar and cocktail club. It’s got a fine line-up of cocktails and Shanghainese food (more of this later!), but we love that there’s a new age pub-club (plub?) down the road from the Honeycombers HQ. Eliza starts off the night with live jazz rearrangements of pop music and slowly transitions into nu-disco DJ sets as it grows darker.

Pandora’s Garden
Another of Ann Siang House resident, this rooftop garden bar is all rosé all the time. Follow the neon sign on the door and trudge up a few stairs to find your new happy place. Drink pink, indulge in a picnic style platter of cheese and cured meats under an ancient Frangipani tree and make a leisurely evening out of it.

Queens
When a bar named after the (in)famous New York city boroughs pops up in our hood, you bet we pay attention. An intimate cocktail bar (still in soft launch mode), Queens is a homage to the hip-hop movement. It’s the hard knock life and we could use some courage juice to keep it real.

BONUS!
Destination Singapore Beach Road × Kult Kafe
Okay, this isn’t a new bar but it’s a new collab with delicious Asian inspired drinks involve. We love nomnoming at Chef Damian D’Silva’s Folklore, but the latest collab over the bar has given us reason to go back and again. Kult Kafe’s six-month (till April 2019) long collaboration with Destination Singapore Beach Road’s Folklore will serve talking Asian-inspired cocktails (aka kultails) with heritage bar snacks! Don’t think twice before ordering bloody belacan (made by chef’s sambal belachan) that just might be our fave version of the B Mary. Need something refreshing? Pick lemon-gingery kult kooler or the dill & tonic (yes you read that right). You also have nine new bar snacks to pair with your drinks. If you ask us, we keep going back for the baked sambal buah keluak and the oh-so-crispy kepak kencur wings.
Destination Singapore Beach Road × Kult Kafe menu, till 30 April 2019 from 3.00 pm to 9.30 pm at Destination Singapore Beach Road Lobby Bar and Folklore, 700 Beach Rd, Singapore 199598
