Hair-spired by your Instagram feed? Head down to TIGI at Orchard Road for a haircut, colouring, and styling, as well as the new range of TIGI Bed Head Colour Trip products.
Cult UK hair label TIGI is taking the world by storm! Launching its professional hair services which include cuts, styling and its ever-popular hair colouring services, TIGI will open its doors to the public in Orchard Gateway on 18 June. Best part? Its line of hair products, such as the TIGI Bed Head Colour Trip Professional Colour Range, is now available to purchase at the hip salon.
Founded in the ’80s, TIGI is defined by its fresh, bold, and edgy hair trends that were apparent in experimental London. Proving that the not-your-typical-clean-cut-hair trends are not dying anytime soon, TIGI has decided to open a minimalist-edgy, 1,600-square foot salon at the heart of Singapore’s shopping district – Orchard Gateway. Headed by Japanese Creative Director with over 30 years’ experience with hair, Hidero Nakagami, who was trained by the TIGI International Education Team, the salon promises the striking creativity and quality that it’s known for.
One such standout service is the new electrifying TIGI Bed Head Colour Trip professional colour range – this includes 12 long-lasting, semi-permanent and acidic shades of rebellious colours that can last up to 20 hair washes. Due to its ability to mix, colourists will be able to invent a cocktail of colours they envisage, whether it’s an intense and bold colour or punked out with soft, pastel hues. TIGI hair products are also formulated with hydrolysed keratin and coconut oil to strengthen and condition hair, with the gentle acidic formula to close hair cuticles.
What I think of TIGI
Seeing is believing. I volunteered for a hair makeover, giving TIGI a task they couldn’t resist (and neither could we) – unicorn hair. Due to my obsession with hair colouring throughout the years, it was less of a nerve-wracking experience than it was super exciting. Plus, with all the unicorn craze that has been making waves on social media such as makeup, bath bombs and food, we reckon this is a trend that refuses to die (or rather, dye), so why not embrace it?
I wasn’t the least fazed as my locks were being observed by Hidero Nakagami himself, having dealt with Asian, Caucasian and African hair in his experience. The hair guru started with a haircut, and proceeded with treatment prior to bleaching to keep the hairs undamaged and protected. Despite the intensity of peroxide in the bleach, TIGI’s own didn’t sting nor did it have a strong smell. It took an hour to apply, but the colour turning was quite fast without any heat applied. Colouring took about 15 to 20 minutes. Mind you, I had six different shades deposited into my hair for the unicorn effect. I can safely say, a week has passed and despite a few washes, the intensity of the colours is still as strong as it was before.
