One of Singapore’s most famous seafood restaurants is celebrating its 40th anniversary with a food challenge featuring its signature chilli crab bao
Does Singapore’s iconic chilli crab make you weak in the knees? Do you absolutely love steamed buns? Think you can wolf down a whole lot of delicious chilli crab-filled black buns in minutes? Well, here’s your chance to binge-eat Red House Seafood’s signature chilli crab baos in Singapore as the local seafood restaurant celebrates its big 4-0 birthday with an exciting eating challenge. Stand to win up to $3,888 cash (!) if you consume the most number of chilli crab baos. Dreams do come true, foodies!
The rules of this food challenge are simple: gobble down 10 Red House’s chilli baos in the shortest time to qualify as one of the eight finalists. In the finals of this food challenge, contestants will have to eat as many of these black buns within eight minutes. Of course, the biggest and fastest eater will walk away with the grand prize: $3,888 cash and $200 Red House Seafood dining voucher for more chilli crab goodness.
Subsequent prizes aren’t too shabby either: second runner-up takes home $1,888 cash and a $200 dining voucher; third runner-up gets $888 cash and $200 dining voucher; and the remaining five contestants in the top eight receive a $200 dining voucher each.
Registration for the food challenge is open from 18 July 2016 to 6 August 2016 on www.redhousechallenge.com. Once entered, you’ll receive a confirmation email and an e-ticket, which you’ll need to present together with your ID on competition day.
The first qualifying round will be held on Saturday, 13 August 2016 from 1pm to 4.30pm at Red House Seafood along Prinsep Street; the second round will happen on Saturday, 20 August from 1pm-4.30pm, at Red House Seafood at The Quayside; and the finals will kick off on 27 August 2016 from 5pm at The Atrium of 60 Robertson Quay. Registration fee is $10, and each contestant will receive a gift pack that includes a $20 dining voucher, a Red House Challenge 2016 T-shirt and a tote bag, when they complete the challenge.
