FitnessFest hits our shores tomorrow - have you gotten your tickets yet? It's set to be a fun-packed two day festival of high-energy workouts, healthy eats and (Youtube) star sightings.
More than a month into the new year and we gotta admit – it ain’t easy sticking to our new year’s resolution of making healthier choices. Munching on salads and going to yoga classes day in and day out can sometimes get monotonous, so imagine our excitement when we found a way to give our #fitlife a boost – a huge fitness festival is happening tomorrow!
Aptly dubbed FitnessFest, this two-day event at Bayfront Event Space will be chock-full of healthy activities that will even inspire the most sluggish of couch potatoes.
Break a sweat with mass workouts led by celebrity instructors, including creator of the popular Blogilates YouTube channel, Cassey Ho, as well as instructors from local gyms and studios like UFIT and WeBarre. More intimate sessions are also available for you to try out other types of fitness, such as Muay Thai, crossfit and get this – even parkour.
Of course, we gotta refuel after all that hard work. So check out organic products at the Healthy Living Show, and pick up some tips for healthier eating at nutrition talks and workshops. Need to purchase some new workout gear like sports bras and running shoes? A shopping village will also take care of your retail therapy needs with deals on fitness and health products. Suddenly, the #fitlife just got more exciting if you ask us!
Want more deets? Check out the highlights of the lineup below:
Pop Pilates with Cassey Ho
Hands up if you’ve worked out with Cassey Ho (more famously known as Blogilates) from the comforts of your home. We have, and know first-hand that her workouts are a killer – little wonder why she’s earned her rep as Youtube’s top fitness guru. Pop Pilates will see participants engaging in a “dance on the mat” workout, which incorporates pilates moves to the thumping grooves of pop music.
20 May, 10am at the Main Arena
Boom Box by Rey & Moose of The Ring Boxing Community
Prepare to get your heart rate up – this 45-minute cardio workout will see a combination of boxing, high-intensity conditioning and body weight strength training to a high-energy playlist. This ain’t for the weak!
20 May, 230pm at the Main Arena
Webarre Signature
Barre may look easy compared to tougher workouts, but make no mistake: you’ll be blitzing calories and training all your muscle groups. Fusing ballet, yoga, pilates and strength training, the workout will push you beyond your limits – all while maintaining the poise of a ballerina.
20 May, 315pm at Manduka Tent
Zumba and Martial Jam Party
Two things we love most: Zumba and a good party. Combine the two, and we guarantee it’ll be a heck of a time. At this interval-style workout, martial arts-inspired sequences will be included to test your power and coordination. The focus here is to have fun, so don’t fret if you’ve got two left feet!
20 May, 830pm at the Main Arena
Spin Groove & Pulse
Dancing meets indoor cycling at this fast-paced spin sesh – there won’t just be your usual sprints and pulses, but also body waves, sexy corners and freestyle moves for you to bust out.
20 and 21 May, 145pm at the Spin Arena
Glow Yoga with Yoga Lab
If you’re usually dismissive of yoga’s typically serene atmosphere and slow movements, you might like this version. Yoga Lab’s Glow Yoga will feature black lights, glow sticks and basic yoga postures to the beat of dance music. Prior to the workout, you’ll be kitted out in your glow gear and neon body paint.
