Try cycling, aerial yoga, boot camps, ballet, strength-training and martial arts all with one membership!
Confession: I love a good sweat sesh… but I get bored in the gym easily (you’ll never find me on the treadmill; too dull), and I have a crazy-hectic schedule. Well, GuavaPass is throwing all these “excuses” out of the window.
Guava-what?
Launched in April this year, it gives members access to a multitude of top fitness studios in Singapore – a welcome game changer for my fitness routine. I can pop in for a quick 30-minute workout at lunchtime at Level, then hit a quick yoga de-stresser at Updog Studio or a pack ride at CruCycle before trying a hot new resto nearby.
The beauty of GuavaPass is options, unlike the usual gym contract. You have the freedom of choice, and its monthly billing cycle means you can quit anytime – especially after you’ve found something to specialise in after trying a dozen of new workouts. The sheer amount of classes on offer, from pole-dancing and golf to hip-hop and muay thai, really helps to keep things fresh. With constant switch-ups, I am more engaged in my workouts, and results show more quickly!
The GuavaPass experience
I signed up for their pass that allowed me access to over 65 studios island-wide. Since Honeycombers’ office is right in the CBD at Telok Ayer, I opted to try a lunchtime ballet cardio at Wings to Wings (10 North Canal Road). The instructor was quick to assist, and constantly reminding me to smile and find the fun in dance.
A couple of days later, my back was really bothering me (a common side effect of office life for me), so I knew I needed to get some movement in my spine. I chose to do Functional Training at Radiance Physiofit, and boy, did I get what I was asking for! The circuit was a perfect mesh of strength training and a cardio circuit that left me feeling agile and strong.
I had made dinner plans with a friend in Jalan Besar at the end of the week, so I booked Yoga Max (yoga with weights – phew!) at MotionWerkz to get my om on before a well deserved meal. During the intensive stretch session, I also got to experiment with some of their swing yoga techniques, which provided a whole new level of alignment for my practice.
Indeed, each class was wildly different, and that kept me motivated. I felt pepped up after experiencing a fresh, new routine, rather than feeling like it’s such a chore. That’s what fitness should be all about, don’t you think?
Fuss-free bookings
Besides offering heaps of heart-pumping experiences, it’s super easy to secure a spot in a class on GuavaPass’ booking platform. Once you’re logged in, simply find something you like and hit the “Book” button – voila. You’ll then receive an email confirmation on your reservation.
If you tend to forget your appointments (we feel you!), just add your classes to your Google Calendar immediately, and you’ll receive email reminders an hour before your classes start (or opt out of these reminders if they annoy you). You can also filter available classes by neighbourhood, time, type of class, or studio, and the amenities at each studio – from showers to water for purchase – are displayed. I also found it especially motivating that the system keeps track of the classes I have completed for that month.
Another major bonus: they have a badass referral program! Everyone you refer gets 50% off their first month. Once they’ve stayed for more than a month, you earn one credit. Earn two credits to get 1 month free! There is no limit to the amount of credit you can earn through referrals. Register now!
