Here’s one for foodies who want to lift their game in the kitchen: FairPrice Finest Festival is back and it’s all about making modern Singaporean (Mod-Sin) cuisine
Getting kitchen fatigue and want to learn how to whip up some new dishes at home? Well, the time to cook more and eat out less has come, especially since the FairPrice Finest Festival is here again!
A month-long culinary event from 23 August to 19 September 2018, FairPrice Finest Festival celebrates “Gourmet Made Simple” – the simplicity of preparing gourmet food at the comfort of our home. Through the theme “Anyone Can Create” this year, FairPrice Finest wants to inspire everyone into becoming decent home cooks. MasterChef wannabes, are you up for the challenge?
Kickstart your Mod-Sin journey
For this edition of the festival, FairPrice Finest is teaming up with Chef Shen Tan, founder of Ownself Make Chef. The talented chef is known for her creative Mod-Sin creations, such as lamb char siew, bak chor mee pasta, and beef rendang pizza, and she kicks off the “Anyone Can Create” campaign with three original Mod-Sin recipes that can easily be recreated by aspiring home cooks (psst… they range from chicken rice risotto, kaya gula melaka tiramisu, and beef stroganoff laksa). Inspired by Chef Shen Tan, home cooks’ collective The Meatmen has also jumped on the bandwagon with their rendang spiced sio bak.
You too can join in the action in the “Anyone Can Create” Contest, where you’ll stand a chance to create an original recipe and star as a guest chef in a cooking video with Chef Shen, and win up to $2,500 worth of attractive prizes. To participate, all you have to do is get a festival card from any FairPrice Finest store and submit a photo of your Mod-Sin creation here.
Fun for the fambam…
Look out for plenty of other exciting contests during the festival, such as the Tote-tally Fun Challenge, where you can unleash your creativity with a limited edition tote bag and colouring kit (bag one home with a minimum spend of $50 in one receipt from Mondays to Fridays at all FairPrice Finest stores; other terms and conditions apply). Come up with the best design you can think of and the top 20 winners will win up to $1,000 worth of FairPrice gift vouchers!
There’s also going to be a bunch of free in-store weekend activities for the little ones, including workshops that involve decorating aprons, making chef hats, and balloon sculpting – all happening at FairPrice Finest stores around the island. Look out for exciting mall atrium events at Bukit Panjang Plaza and Thomson Plaza (from 15 to 16 September), too. Excited yet? Get ready to mark your calendars:
1pm – 3pm: Chef Hat Making Workshop
3pm – 4pm: Balloon Sculpturing
4pm – 6pm: Chef Apron Decorating Workshop
