Just because you live in a flat in Singapore, doesn’t mean you can’t live the Hermès dream...
Besides coveted handbags that put you on a waitlist (the record time is six years), and iconic scarves that adorn necks and handbag handles alike, high fashion French heritage brand Hermès is also known for its fine furniture, tableware and home décor. Right now the brand’s stylish homeware collection, known as the Hermès Maison Universe, can be found at its own standalone section at the flagship store at Liat Towers with Through The Walls: immersive exhibition created specially and exclusively for Singapore. Form a queue, home décor lovers!
The exhibit is a chance to take a peek into the whole Hermès home universe, in a real home setting. Under the artistic direction of Charlotte Macaux Perelman and Alexis Fabry – an architect and book publisher by trade respectively – the upper levels of the flagship store have been turned into mini architectural dioramas, with a different scenography at every turn.
In line with Hermès’ penchant for all things whimsical (just stop to gaze at the shop windows), items in every ‘scene’ take on a life of their own – a deliberately placed porcelain piece, the furniture pieces acting out everyday scenes. There’s even a soundtrack – one that complements daily domesticity.
If you dream of surrounding yourself at home with beautiful wallpaper, exquisitely crafted tableware, bespoke wooden furniture (including a scarf cabinet), the finest porcelains and ornate lighting pieces, then this exhibition would definitely spark that fire for your Pinterest-worthy home. Think of it as taking a tour of an immaculately decorated doll’s house – not weird at all.
Through The Walls, 7-29 Oct, Hermès flagship store, 541 Orchard Rd, #01-02A Liat Towers, Singapore 238881
