Thinking of pursuing a career in Singapore’s dynamic hotel industry, but not sure where to start? The third edition of Open Hotels Weekend (OHW) returns with a bang in March, with more than 40 hotels – nearly double the number from the previous run in August 2018 – offering exclusive behind-the-scenes tours. Job seekers are welcome to discover what it takes to be a part of the dynamic hotel industry.
Spread across Friday and Saturday on two weeks (March 1-2 and March 8-9), this year’s programme promises more hands-on activities for job seekers who want to know more about a career in the hotel industry, including in Housekeeping, Food & Beverage, Front Office, Event Management and more.
Shortlisted tour registrants will have the chance to speak with employees from participating hotels to find out more about their experiences and memorable encounters on the job and have on-the-spot interviews for over 700 job vacancies. They can also try their hands at activities including:
Housekeeping and culinary training
Kuih Dadar preparation
Mocktail mixing
The art of butler service
Towel origami folding
Wedding banquet preparation session
Open Hotels Weekend falls under “The Business of Happiness” Hotel Careers Campaign, which was launched in July 2017 by the Singapore Tourism Board (STB) and Singapore Hotel Association (SHA), in partnership with the Food Drinks & Allied Workers Union (FDAWU) and hotels in Singapore. The campaign aims to improve public awareness of the diverse range of careers and progression opportunities in the hotel industry, and inspire the next generation of Singaporeans who are passionate about hospitality.
