About the exhibition:
Seen thousands of times, the seemingly ordinary sights of Singapore nature hide stories that were never told.
“I love to explore the nature of the garden city. I love taking paths less travelled to soak nature scenes with its visuals, smells, and noises. Together with my family, we love making up stories about what we see.” – shares Inessa.
“It must flower one day” we hoped every time we saw bamboo trees at Singapore Botanic Garden. We’ve seen them many times, but we’ve never seen them bloom. We figured out that we must wait and one day She will come to perform Her Dance and make bamboos bloom.
Another day we spotted the butterflies by the lake flying in an unusual manner: as if they can see something that we cannot. “They are not alone. Dragon Number 7 is there too. He is just invisible to earth walkers.” – guessed our daughter.
This exhibition is an attempt to share these fantasies through whimsical visual worlds of Inessa’s artworks and poems by Alice Kalabekova.
Bamboos, rustic benches, butterflies, and water lilies of Singapore parks… you won’t be able to see them the same again.
