As “A Gift of Heart” Campaign moves into December, we shine the spotlight on Anna’s story — a testament to resilience and the transformative power of art therapy.
When 9-year-old Anna* first started art therapy, her mother, Mdm Tasha*, carried the heavy weight of her daughter’s silent pain. Violations of Anna’s safety needs at home had left deep emotional scars, making it hard for her to navigate her feelings.
Thanks to a referral from Singapore Children’s Society @ Yishun FSC, Anna was introduced to The Red Pencil (Singapore). Over eight sessions of art therapy, the quiet, reserved child began to blossom. Guided by our art therapist, Anna found her voice through art, her emotional self-regulation improved, and she became more confident and chatty.
Mdm Tasha, too, felt the positive effects, sharing, “I felt I could release my worries each time I stepped into the room.” For both mother and child, art therapy became a beacon of hope. Anna’s drawing of her favourite Pokémon character in vibrant colours now radiates the joy and innocence every child deserves.
With your support, The Red Pencil (Singapore) can continue helping children like Anna. Let’s give the gift of hope and strength this season. Donors who contribute $50 or more will receive Anna’s artwork, along with the full collection of Oct & Nov artworks.
