Written by award-winning playwright Jean Tay, Chinatown Crossings explores the rich heritage of the area in the form of a site-specific theatre performance. Get acquainted with Kunalan – an Indian man who grew up in a Chinatown shophouse in the 1960s – as well as the feisty landlady’s daughter Ting Ting and his domestic helper cum surrogate mother Fong Cheh. Explore the nooks and crannies around the neighbourhood, experience the inside of a shophouse, witness some of the lost and forgotten practices of this colourful community and even relive the olden days through a soundscape.
