Why bike when you can scoot? Head to Suntec City and experience Singapore’s first e-scooter sharing service made affordable and convenient by Telepod
Bike-sharing services have been making waves in Singapore, and you’ve probably spotted a few yellow oBikes parked around your neighbourhood. Not fond of cycling or still on ’em training wheels, though? Get this: you can now rent an e-scooter to get around the city with ease – and much more speed.
A first in Singapore, local start-up company – Telepod – has launched its e-scooter sharing service this week, with 10 e-scooters made available to rent at $1 for every 10 minutes each. Rentals can be made via the free Telepod app that’s available to download at the Apple Store (for iPhone users) and Google Playstore (for Android users), with a one-time $49 refundable deposit required per account registration.
With plans to expand its service locations, the initial pick-up and drop-off point is currently located at the main entrance of Suntec Convention Centre, and can only be used with the help of Telepod’s in-house tracking technology, where users need to scan the QR code at the drop-off point in order to end the trip. All scooters are equipped with GPS tracking, alarm systems to prevent theft, and technology that allows remote deactivation when required, such as exceeding its maximum rental time of six hours.
Oh, but here’s one thing you should know: in accordance with the requirements of Land Transport Authority, the maximum speed of the scooters is capped to 25km per hour – sorry, speed racers!
Telepod, app is free to download via the Apple Store and Google Playstore, and e-scooters can now be rented at Suntec Convention Centre, 1 Raffles Boulevard, Singapore 039593.
