We found the most gorgeous kitchen appliances – and we want them all!
There’s no question that domestic appliances brand, Smeg, has always been on the forefront of tasteful, contemporary living. You don’t have to own one of its famous fridges to know about its iconic products that ooze style and and sophistication – all designed in collaboration with world-famous architects. This time, the brand has joined creative forces with fashion powerhouse Dolce&Gabbana to create Sicily Is My Love, a limited edition collection that features the epitome of Italian craftsmanship. We’re pretty sure you’d like to check out the collaboration yourselves, so don’t miss these beauties at Tangs department store and Harvey Norman Millenia Walk from 14 to 23 September. Lucky us!
Following a successful partnership in 2016 (where Smeg’s much loved retro style FAB28 fridges were turned into works of art), this latest foray focuses on smaller kitchen appliances such as toasters, citrus juicers, and kettles – an easy way to get a bit of haute couture in our kitchens. Each piece of the Sicily Is My Love collection is hand decorated with images by Sicilian artists that tell an Italian story. Vibrant gold lemons, prickly pears, bright red cherries, and citrus fruits are ensconced with traditional Sicilian flowers, while historical landmarks are surrounded by ornamental friezes and decorative acanthus leaves. These designs are a true celebration of the homeland of Domenico Dolce and Stefano Gabbana and their unmistakeable aesthetic.
This collaboration is as much as an ode to Italy as it is to high-end Italian design and craftsmanship. Everyday appliances are taken to new heights with cutting edge Smeg technology and quality and Dolce&Gabbana’s creativity and craftsmanship, creating the perfect combination of form and function. But above all, it brings us back to the heart and soul of Italian culture – its food.
The Dolce&Gabbana x Smeg Sicily Is My Love collection proves that art doesn’t have to belong on the walls; you can have your own piece of haute couture and sleek design on your kitchen counter. Want to see these beauties up close? Head on over to Tangs department store and Harvey Norman Millenia Walk this September to sneak a peek or treat yourself to your very own work of art.
