New Majestic Hotel
One word to describe New Majestic Hotel? Bold. Each of the 30 rooms boast a funky art installation by Singaporean artists and are furnished with electric vintage and designer pieces. Leave your soap back home; the bathroom comes with Kiehl’s shower amenities. Live out your 50 Shades of Grey fantasy at the kinkily designed Pussy Parlour.

For tree-huggers: Tree Top Lofts
Perched amongst trees, 12 metres above ground, Tree Top Lofts is a hotel unlike any other. The hideaway spot features a spacious living room, walk-in wardrobe and a 90 sqm private outdoor terrace. There’s also a personalised butler service so you don’t have to go down for your entire stay. Book early as there are only two lofts (imagine the privacy!) – Angsana and Tembusu.

For the nostalgic souls: Kam Leng Hotel
Situated along the hip Jalan Besar, one might mistake Kam Leng Hotel to be a meh accommodation. But step inside and you will see that the heritage hotel is stunning. Retaining the building’s traditional Nanyang style, a stay here feels as though you’ve been transported back to the yesteryears of Singapore, with modern amenities and conveniences, of course.

For the sophisticated babe: Sofitel So Singapore
If friends from out-of-town ask for hotel recommendations, Sofitel So Singapore certainly ranks high on our list. The ghost of the building’s creative past lingers within, thanks to the magic (and utterly chic) interior touches by Karl Lagerfeld and acclaimed designer Isabelle Miaja. Rooms are luxuriously appointed, its amenities and services are nothing short of stellar, and – perhaps most importantly – great food and drink options are just steps away, with the iconic Lau Pa Sat just next door for serious local grub.

For lovers of Chinese art: Porcelain Hotel
The design of this boutique hotel along Chinatown centres on – you guessed it – Porcelain. Go for the theme suite; the 43sqm room comes with two couches and a bathtub right behind the bed.

For madcap travellers: Wanderlust
Designed by four award-winning creative agencies (Asylum, :phunk Studio, DP Architects and fFurious), this thematic boutique hotel is eccentric in every way possible. While everyone’s raving about Wanderlust’s whimsical loft rooms, the minimalist in us prefers their chic mono rooms that feature a mixture of origami and pop art.

For killer waterfront views: Ocean Suites
Boasting a floor-to-ceiling viewing panel of S.E.A Aquarium, Ocean Suites takes the cake for offering the best view in town. Wake up to sharks, manta rays and other marine creatures swimming around you during your stay. To top it off, there’s also a 24/7 butler on call and an outdoor Jacuzzi. How can anyone resist this wondrous place?

For a sensual night: The Scarlet Hotel
Live like royalty in this luxurious boutique hotel that’s set in a 1924 art-deco building. Mainly covered in red, gold and bronze hues, The Scarlet Hotel opulent décor is very Grand Budapest. Our favourite room by far is the Passion Suite that features a $10,000 bespoke wall and a private outdoor Jacuzzi terrace.

For enthusiastic environmentalist: Llyod’s Inn
Reconnect with nature while still staying in the heart of Orchard Road at Llyod’s Inn. Previously a quaint budget hotel, Llyod’s Inn had a complete makeover in 2014 with the help multi-disciplinary design studio FARM, and is now beautiful and minimalist boutique hotel that celebrates the beauty of nature. We can live there forever!

For an East-side staycation: Village Hotel Katong
This swish hotel embodies Katong’s Peranakan heritage with its brightly coloured floral cloud motifs. A great place to stay in the East, Village Hotel Katong provides easy access to hip bars, famous local hawkers, and fancy restaurants offering delicious grub in the area.

For people who party: W Singapore – Sentosa Cove
W Singapore is the hotel for party animals. Take a dip in the glamorous WET pool that’s equipped with 24 underwater speakers blasting signature house beats. If you have $13,880 to spare, party like a rock star and splurge on W’s Extreme WOW suite. Furnished with a DJ console, Jacuzzi bathtub, private plunge pool and more, this is every A-listers need. Otherwise, the standard room pleases just as well.
