This buzzy new coffee trend from South Africa sees quality coffee served in a… cone?
You heard that right – what’s being hailed as “the world’s most Instagrammable coffee” is finally making its way to Singapore by way of popular Hong Kong Coffee chain, The Coffee Academics. Not a huge surprise, considering coffee in Singapore has always been part of our culture. What’s surprising, however, is its baffling presentation.
The coffee-in-a-cone concept is more than just pouring a cuppa Joe into a cone. The patented process, perfected by Mr Levinrad from the Grind Coffee Company in South Africa, involves coating the ice cream cone with four different chocolate compounds that are hardened by varying percentages of cacao content.
The Coffee Academics’ rendition of Coffee in a Cone features its delightful piccolo latte, poured into the chocolate-coated ice cream cone. This buzzy new way to enjoy coffee will be a permanent menu item at The Coffee Academics two stores in Singapore, and will be available from 20 May for $8.90 a pop. And, you’ll want to snap a shot of it too and get some major Insta-props because its hashtag, #coffeeinacone, is going absolutely crazy on Instagram.
How do you actually eat/drink it, though? We’ll let you figure that one out.
The Coffee Academics, two outlets. Available from 20 May at $8.90.
