1. The Affogato Bar
Sure, the cafe may be called The Affogato Bar but it serves up delish bagel sandwiches, salads and focaccia sammies too. As for dessert, a chocolate lover’s dream takes shape in Death by Chocolate, where dark chocolate sorbet, brownie chunks and chocolate streusels come together with a bitter espresso shot. Not a fan of dessert? The drinks will equally delight. We’re not just talking about the coffee brews. Chai comes in four flavours: dark vanilla, chocolate spiced, vanilla and spiced.

2. Relish
This Cluny Court mainstay was ahead of its time. Back in 2006, good burgers were a rarity in Singapore but Relish stepped in to shake up the scene. Twelve years later, the restaurant still serves classics like the blue cheese and Williams pear burger, and the bacon and double cheese, along with other brunch staples and pasta. Bonus points for the breezy space which gives us major vacay vibes.

3. Simply Bread
If you want nothing more than a quiet morning over freshly baked bread, Simply Bread is quite simply it. Grab a spot by one of its large windows and dig in. Fuel up with hearty sandwiches (roast beef and grilled cheese are classics), or nibble on sticky buns with coffee on the side. Don’t leave without ordering a large loaf. Baked in-house, the selection of ciabatta, sourdough and rye walnut makes for several meals.

4. Da Paolo Gastronomia
When the Botanic Gardens MRT station finally opened its doors, we had one reason to rejoice: Da Paolo Gastronomia. The alfresco area of the cafe is our favourite spot to while away Sunday mornings over mains from the deli or straight off the menu. For a spot of decadence, try the signature tiramisu or Nutella cake. Don’t be too guilty if you leave feeling absolutely stuffed. Botanic Gardens is a mere three-minute walk away for an afternoon stroll.
