Back from a hiatus, Kilo Lounge moves from Kallang to the city with three of the best parties in Singapore this November
The rumours are true, you party animals: Kilo Lounge is back! The nightlife-focused arm of the Kilo Franchise caused quite a sad stir in the scene when it announced its temporary closure in the beginning of the year – gone were the drunken, debaucherous evenings of riding that notorious graffiti-strewn elevator, up to a left-field lair of house and techno where punters partied ’til the wee hours of the morning.
Why was this club so special? We vividly recall famous past guest DJs like Hot Chip, Danny Daze and Chez Damier, and even live music performers like Braids, Slow Magic and hip-hop legends The Pharcyde. More importantly, it also helped nurture the local scene by boosting residencies and homegrown selectors like Maurice Simon, CATS ON CRACK, Zig Zach and Oliver Osborne.
But in case you haven’t heard yet, the new Kilo Lounge is no longer going to be at Ture Building in Kallang; it’s landed itself a new home that opens next month. Where exactly? Well, a lil’ birdie has told us that it’s gonna be somewhere in the Tanjong Pagar area, near one of Singapore’s most iconic cocktails bars. Do we know the exact locale? Of course we do, and we could tell you… but where’s the fun in that?
Instead, we’d recommend you find out for yourself by checking out Kilo Lounge’s pre-opening pop-up party series, dubbed A Series Of Intentions. Raving and misbehaving across three different nights – 18, 19 and 25 November – these clandestine parties will be taking place at undisclosed venues (the Kilo folks sure have a thing for mystery!), and will feature a headlining trio of world-class house and techno DJs – DJ W!ld (France), Petar Dundov (Croatia), and The Revenge (UK) respectively. We’re sure you’ll catch more hints if you swing by and ask around nicely! But in the meantime, just trust us when we say that Kilo Lounge is coming back with a bang.
A Series Of Intentions by Kilo Lounge; 18, 19 and 25 November; venues TBC; tickets at $20 (online) and $30 (door). For more details, stay updated to this website.
