Mall Snoop: orchardgateway
We certainly don’t need yet another shopping mall on Orchard Road but for orchardgateway, we’ll gladly make an exception. With edgy and off-beat stores offering more than just your run-of-the-mill high street labels, this new kid on the block may just be our latest go-to shopping spot – and yours too. Check out our top picks of orchardgateway’s finest.
i.t. (#B1-13/#01-18/#02-24)
The star attraction of orchardgateway is undoubtedly i.t. The Hong Kong multi-label boutique takes centre stage at the mall with a mammoth three-storey space dedicated to indie labels such as izzue, 5cm, AAPE, tout à coup, and :CHOCOOLATE. And there’s even more reason for fashionistas to rejoice: Stylenanda, the wildly popular Korean high street label, will be the latest name to join the ranks at i.t. when the store opens 13 June.
DH Sunglasses (#02-04)
Make no mistake: DH Sunglasses is not your average eyewear store. Previously located at Haji Lane, the cool kids of sunnies have moved up in the world and into a larger space in orchardgateway – bringing us a larger range of sunglasses from cult labels like Karen Walker, House of Holland, Le Specs, Celine, and Ksubi. And this time, they have even expanded to offer a selection of watches, hats, and apparel for fashionistas seeking the one-stop shopping experience.
Actually (#03-18)
We’ve been fans of Actually since forever, so naturally, we’re deeming this cutting-edge multi-label lifestyle store as a definite can’t-miss. The outlet in orchardgateway is Actually’s biggest one to date and their best one yet with a slew of the coolest apparel, accessories, and curios (a DJ turntable, anyone?) from BOY London, Fjallraven Kanken, Spitfire, and Dr. Denim Jeansmaker that’ll tempt even the most hardened shopper. We’ll take one of each, please.
Premium Barbers (#04-12)
We get it, fellas: shopping is hard work. So kick back and unwind over a haircut, wet shave, foot massage, or mani-pedi at Premium Barbers while the missus shops up a storm. Even better: this cosy joint will also help you get started on Happy Hour with its on-site 12-seater bar. That’s right – it’s a barber shop with booze. Can it get any better than this?
SECTS Shop (#04-15)
The fourth level of orchardgateway is entirely dedicated to menswear and our top pick is SECTS Shop. Curated by designers Kenny Lim and Andrew Loh of local label, DEPRESSION, this new multi-label boutique is a hidden gem for those who aren’t afraid to push the sartorial envelope. Gents: take your pick from edgy street wear to dapper threads and accessories by Antidepressant, Jeepers Peepers, Ivory Jar, Shake Appeal, and Sugarpills.
