Best sweet pies in Singapore
1. Merci Marcel
If you’re a non-traditionalist, we highly recommend the deconstructed lemon pie from Merci Marcel’s Tiong Bahru outlet. This modern twist to the age-old dessert features soft meringue that balances the citrusy zest of the lemon curd and sits atop a pile of crumbled, buttery crust. It’s definitely worth a try alongside other desserts such as passion fruit crème brûlée and raspberry vanilla custard.
Merci Marcel, #01-68, 56 Eng Hoon Street, Singapore 160056
2. Elijah Pies
What started out as an experiment in the kitchen to satiate his girlfriend’s dessert cravings has now blossomed into a full-blown biz. Elijah is the baker behind the pies, of which Nutella is clearly the classic fave. But don’t miss out on other delicate flavours such as raspberry, yuzu cheesecake, matcha latte, Earl Grey rose and pandan coconut.

3. Black Dot Sweet Provisions
This sweet shop doles out creative bubble tea and cookie creations, but it’s the pies we’re eyeing. Thick and generously-sized, each slice gives you multiple forkfuls of saccharine happiness. Love chocolate? The must-try Gianduja chocolate milk tea cheesecake has dark hazelnut chocolate and feuilletine truffles on a milk tea-infused cheesecake. Rocky Road S’mores comes in a close second with its rich blend of peanut butter, chocolate ganache, choc cookie dough and toasted marshmallows. Or if you’re after a tart zing, the lemon meringue pie is a beaut.

4. Windowsill Pies
Show some love to this charming pie shop in Singapore. We’ve been obsessed with it ever since its days as a quaint cafe in Jalan Besar. Everything about it is the bomb – from the flaky pie crust to the fantastic fillings. It’s totally made for sharing! For a classic treat, try the morello cherry with cherry jam and a sugary butter cookie lattice. Or the rum and apple pie for a boozy twist to the familiar favourite. Goodies that never fail to satisfy include the Grasshopper (dark chocolate, peppermint whipped cream), S’mores (milk choc custard, smoked marshmallows, graham cookies) and Banana Cognac (banana mousse, almond brittle, cognac whipped cream).

This popular cafe is known for its over-the-top double chocolate blackout cake, but when you’re in the mood for pie, nothing else will satisfy. That’s where its Florida key lime pie comes in. Zesty, sharp and sweet, the dessert makes for a refreshingly light end to your meal. Alternatively, the classic apple pie chock full of sweet apples is always a fab choice.

At Wimbly Lu, desserts are a delight. Cakes, crepes, brownies… you name it, the cafe has it. 9. Simply Good Pies
C’mon, the name says it all. This place reserves the best ingredients for its handmade pies, using free-range and hormone-free meat, wild fish and organic veggies in its recipes. No preservatives or additives either. And the savoury options are endless! We’re talking about prime ribeye steak and Guinness, coq in cider and the classic English pork pie. Let’s not forget the New Zealand grass-fed lamb and Alaskan fish shepherd’s pies, too. Even beef rendang fans get a rendition (which also comes in a vegan-friendly version). If you’re up for more in the form of dessert, try the pumpkin or apple crumble creations.

You may have heard of Kemono for its cage-free and antibiotic-free organic roast chicken. But it also has a pretty extensive menu that includes – you guessed it – pies. Of course, its signature chook features in the selection with chicken curry and chicken mushroom options. Beef is just as popular: try the spicy wagyu or triple cheese beef pies. Other options include creamed spinach, Hokkaido truffle prawn and scallop, and the wagyu beef shabu shabu pie.
