The winners for November are in! From organic rosehip seed oils to a wash-off bubble mask, these are the products we loved best this month
This month at Honeycombers HQ, we’ve been all about skincare. With the festive season around the corner, it’s been a mad rush to get our complexions in tip-top form (and to be honest, hide how tired we are). Stellar new product or a recommended life-saver? Bring it on. Both new and new to the team, these skin care products are our top 10 beauty buys of November.
YSL’s Top Secrets Instant Moisture Glow
“If you need a quick fix to make your skin look great, put this on. Most people use it as a primer, and it’s a great one because it gives your skin that glow and in turn enhances your make-up, but I think it’s great for those makeup-free days when you still want that hint of polish. It gives your skin a matte finish (but doesn’t dry out at all!) and makes it so soft and rosy. Gonna make this a regular buy!”
– Delfina Utomo, Lifestyle writer
$79, from YSL Beauty locations
Basic Theory Basic Lip Protectant
“Unlike most lip balms, Basic Theory’s Lip Protectant doesn’t have that typical “petroleum” taste, thanks to its all-natural ingredients like avocado oil and shea butter. Plus, with eucalyptus and peppermint at its heart, it has a cooling effect, and feels so darn good when applied in an air-conditioned office.”
– Bee Suan Toh, Graphic Designer
USD12, from Basic Theory
Mmerci Encore Glow Elixir
“I just picked up Mmerci Encore’s Glow Elixir: a roll-on aromatherapy perfume with a totally uplifting hit of geranium, and it’s such a sensory treat. I take it everywhere – and people keep asking me what perfume I’m wearing. Divine stuff.”
– Selina Altomonte, Editor
$39, from Mmerci Encore
Mamonde Petal Purifying Bubble Mask
More reason to rejoice if you’re a K-beauty fan: Mamonde just opened a standalone retail space in Ngee Ann City. If there’s one product you got to have from this brand, it’s the Petal Purifying Bubble mask. On application, it feels like soft rose petals, but this texture quickly gives way to form tiny bubbles on skin. When you wash off the mask, you’ll immediately notice how much softer and smoother skin is.
$28, available from Mamonde, Ngee Ann City
REN Skincare Perfect Canvas Finishing Serum
“I’m someone who doesn’t like wearing make-up to work. If I don’t have events to head out to, you best believe that the only thing I’ve got on my face is skincare. So when I find a skincare product that gives my skin the nutrition it needs, while making me look somewhat presentable for work, I’m not letting it go. This serum has all the good stuff: probiotics to renew skin cells, natural sugars to lift and fill fine lines, as well as Agave extract to mattify. This works amazingly well as a primer, but on its own, it gives your skin a smoother canvas.”
– Nafeesa, Style Editor
$90, from Escentials
Eve Lom Gel Balm Cleanser
This is the Holy Grail of cleansers. The gel formula transforms into a milky balm texture which soothes and leaves my skin baby soft. Its blend of clove, eucalpytus, hops and chamomile oil is also incredibly therapeutic, especially after a long day.
$105, from Sephora
Jurlique Sweet Violet and Grapefruit Hydrating Mist
Nothing perks skin up like a good mist. This limited edition Sweet Violet and Grapefruit mist uplifts the senses (particularly on a dull work day) and leaves my skin hydrated and dewy. I use immediately after cleansing to moisten skin before patting on serum. It works a treat when spritzed on a beauty blender to lightly lift excess makeup.
$60, from Jurlique
The Ordinary Rosehip Oil
When The Ordinary first broke out on the scene, the beauty world went berserk. Its powerful clinical formulations are crazy affordable, and as our Events and Marketing Manager Brynie puts it, “it’s big on selling products with the key ingredients only to target specific skin conditions like pigmentation”. Brynie’s pick of the month is the rosehip oil. It’s cold-pressed and organic, and reduces signs of anti-aging.
$19.40, from The Ordinary via ASOS
