From long-lasting liquid lipsticks to anti-aging facial elixirs, these are the beauty products we were obsessed with this month
It being the festive season, us Honeycombers have been hitting the stores a ton (Christmas shopping is always an excuse to buy your own things). The same goes with our beauty stash – we’ve been scouring the shelves for the best festive lippies and magical elixirs to whip our complexions into shape. We think we’ve found ‘em. Here are our favourite beauty buys this month.
Rene Furterer dry oils
“Oils may have a bad rep but these bad boys are some of the best things you can put on your face and hair. These pre-shampoo dry oils by French haircare brand Rene Furterer aren’t greasy at all, and contain essential oils to purify the scalp. The cult Complexe 5 Regenerating Plant Extract strengthens scalp health from the roots by invigorating and removing impurities. The Astera Fresh oil, on the other hand, works great to reduce inflammation. I massage them into my hair ten minutes before washing.”

La Prairie Platinum Rare Cellular Night Elixir
This elixir promises newborn skin and while it seems like a farfetched claim, it has done wonders for our skin. The secret lies in its exclusive-to-the-brand Cellular Complex combined with its Advanced Platinum Complex, creating a blend of some of the world’s rarest, active ingredients to restore, detoxify and boost your skin’s immunity. A single drop a night is all you need (thank the beauty Gods for that, as the potion will set you back a cool $1890) to wake up to brighter, softer and clearer skin.
$1890, available from January 2018 at La Prairie counters
Max Factor Lipfinity lip colour
“The world of makeup got a tad brighter recently – beauty blogger fave drugstore brand MaxFactor is now available in Singapore! One of our favourites has got to be the Lipfinity Lip Colour. You first apply the matte undercoat as you would with any ol’ lipstick. Then, wait a minute before layering the top moisturising topcoat above it. This is, hands down, the most long lasting lippie I’ve used (and trust me, it’s my job to try a ton!). The only downside is that because the formula is so budge proof, it stays on even after being put through the ringer with different makeup removers. Oil works best in this case.”

$22.90, available at Watsons Bugis Junction, ION Orchard, Ngee Ann City and more
YSL Rouge Pur Couture
“Just bought YSL’s Rouge Pur Couture Lipstick in 71 and I have no idea why it took me this long to jump on the YSL bandwagon. Colour is an insanely pretty red that’s almost brick-like, super wearable and moisturizing. (Want to find something for your skin tone? Check out more amazing red lippies we tried on!)

$45.90, available from YSL counters
NARS Soft Matte Complete Concealer
“It’s magic in a concealer! The soft focus smoothing complex blurs your pores and imperfections. It’s also incredibly long-wearing, and skin stays matte all day – all that with a lightweight, non-cakey formula!”
– Ana, Accounts and Events manager
$46, from Sephora
Glossier’s Cloud Paint
“I ditched my MAC powder blush for Glossier’s liquidy Cloud Paint, and never looked back. One tiny dot of this ultra-pigmented gel-cream does more than building powder blush, trust me. It’s lasting and totally buildable, giving you the perfect shade of bloom on your cheeks, eyes and lips — talk about versatility! It’s only available in the US and UK but you can use services like vPost, comGateway or shopandbox to ship to Singapore”

NARS Dolce Vita Velvet Matte Pencil, Sex Machine Velvet Matte Pencil, and Walkyrie
“I love the velvet matte pencils of NARS because they’re so easy to use and unlike other matte lipsticks, they aren’t drying at all! I always have two of each, one to put in my purse and the other to keep in my makeup kit.”
– Jordana, HoneyKids Creative Services editor
$38, available from Sephora
Fenty Beauty’s Pro Flit’r Foundation
“Yaz, kween. When it was announced that Rihanna was releasing a whopping 40 shades of foundation, I was buzzin’. It’s a tiring challenge trying to find the perf shade, despite being colour corrected a gazillion times. But it’s not just about the shades; its formula gives instant smooth, matte finish that is buildable from medium to full coverage sans looking cakey af. Just make sure to work your way through before it dries out — nothing like a patchy face, amirite?”
– Cam, Lifestyle and Fashion writer
$50, available from Sephora
MAC Lingering Brow Pencil
“Brows on fleek sure don’t come easy, which is why you need all the right tools like the MAC lingering brow pencil. Why it’s so great? It’s creamy, pigmented, retractable (who sharpens anymore?) and it’s the perfect shade of brown.”
– Jordana, HoneyKids Creative Services Editor
Available at MAC stores islandwide
FrankSkincare Juicier Luxury Face Oil
“I’ve been face-oil curious for a while, and have been coveting the Juicier face oil by FrankSkincare as I’m a fan of organic skincare, so strolled over to Ode to Organics to take the plunge. I’m on the wrong side of 35 (ahem) so it requires a bit of convincing to pry the SK-II out of my hands, but I’m loving this so far. Why yes it does give your skin a juicier look. Call me a convert.”
$58, available from FrankSkincare online and Ode to Organics, OUE Downtown, 6 Shenton Way,#01-46 Singapore 068815
