We’re always looking for fast, effective beauty treatments to make the most of what time we have, which is why we were really interested in trying out the new Beauty Booster facial. A mini-facelift during your lunch break? What could be better?
As anyone who knows me, or has read my previous review of the ‘lunchtime facelift’ will know, I’m a massive fan of beauty procedures that require little downtime, no long-term time investment and that truly work.
I’m always looking for new ways to improve my skin quality (a legacy of teenage sun damage) with as little bother as possible (I’m totally lazy); my current goal is to be able to turn up at a major event without bothering to wear make-up. So, when I was introduced to the new Teosyal Beauty Booster treatment that uses Teosyal Redensity I filler products to give your face an overall ‘boost’ (sorry, couldn’t help it), I really wanted to give it a try.
What is the Teosyal Beauty Booster treatment?
The Teosyal Beauty Booster treatment is basically a non-surgical treatment that combines stimulating the collagen in your face with hydration; it uses a facial filler products (you can read about all the different types of facial fillers and where to use them in our story Beauty review: I tried the latest version of facial fillers and people say I look years younger), to generally improve the quality of your skin. The Teosyal Redensity product also includes a number of other active ingredients that are designed to help brighten skin and make it firmer, like amino acids, vitamins, hyaluronic acid and antioxidants.
How is the Teosyal Beauty Booster treatment applied to your face?
Doctors use something called the V2 injector gun to get the beauty boosters under the skin on your face – the procedure can also be used for the hands and your neck area. The injector gun hand piece has nine micro needles that ‘stamp’ your face after using slight suction to get your skin primed for the injection. The multi-needle concept means that the procedure is so much faster than getting normal facial fillers done; but it’s also designed to only hit a shallow area of the skin. This procedure doesn’t replace getting ‘proper’ fillers if you need them for definition and to reduce wrinkles, but it is perfect for ‘refreshing’ your face and dealing with dehydrated skin and fine lines.
What does the Beauty Booster treatment feel like?
Basically it feels like a bunch of small, fast ‘stings’ to the face. The doctor will use numbing cream to reduce the impact; you won’t feel too much pain on the majority of your face. However, the under-eye area and some more ‘boney’ points of your face like forehead and cheekbones may sting more than the softer parts of your face. It feels very much like a laser treatment and any pain you feel will be gone by the time you’re walking out the door.
And the result is totally awesome!
I really loved this treatment. It was mostly painless and not as much bother as usual facial fillers. It took only about an hour, including the time it takes to talk to the doctor, the application of numbing cream and a cooling post-treatment mask (it’s really, really cold!).
What was really amazing about this procedure is that I felt super confident about going without make-up within days. I did have a very, very small amount of bruising under one eye, but that disappeared within 48 hours. What convinced me that this worked was the fact that I had to travel to a major work event within days of getting the procedure. After about four days of super long nights, early starts, bad food choices, lots of smoking and even some drinking, I went completely bare-faced (apart from sunscreen of course) on my flight back to Singapore and EVERYONE remarked on how ‘fresh’ I looked. To say I was flabbergasted is an understatement.
How long do Teosyal Beauty Boosters last? And how much do they cost?
According to my doctor, Dr Yeak Hwee Lee, aesthetic doctor at Singapore Aesthetic Centre, you should have three treatments with three or four weeks between each treatment. Once you’ve done the full set, the results should last up to six months. “Smoking and frequent travel — especially without regular moisturisation — can reduce the effectiveness of the treatments,” says Dr Yeak. The average cost for the Teosyal Beauty Booster treatment starts from $733 per session. It’s best to discuss the details with your doctor after a consultation.
Who shouldn’t use the Teosyal Beauty Booster treatment?
Dr Yeak says that she wouldn’t recommend the Teosyal Beauty Booster treatment for people who scar or mark easily or those with blood clotting disorders.
When should you start using the Teosyal Beauty Booster treatment?
If you travel a lot, particularly to colder countries, or work in a cold and dry environment (like most air-conditioned Singapore offices) then you can start using these beauty boosters from your 30s onwards, says Dr Yeak.
So, there you go. If you’re looking for a lunchtime facial refresh I’d strongly recommend giving the beauty booster treatment a go. I’ve continued to receive compliments about how ‘relaxed’ and ‘fresh’ I look, and I’ve still got one more treatment to go. Fingers crossed it lasts a full six months!
