Top victors on this coveted list include Manhattan, 28 Hong Kong Street, Operation Dagger, Atlas and Native
Raise your glasses; we’ve done it again. Singapore’s riding high in the regional bar circuit with a whopping number of 13 bars in this year’s Asia’s Best 50 Bars list. This is the sophomore year of the prestigious award, determined by almost 200 industry experts from all over Asia, so you know that these awardees are truly the cream of the crop. But we’ll cut to the chase; here are the local cocktails bars and speakeasies that did us proud.
Right on top of the ranking with the coveted #1 spot is none other than Manhattan, Regent Hotel’s crown jewel that’s based on 19th century New York. Manhattan jumps up four positions from last year, surpassing last year’s champ, 28 Hong Kong Street, that now occupies a high-flying spot at #4. Hot on the latter’s heels is yet another speakeasy that was also 2016’s second runner-up, the hidden Operation Dagger at Ann Siang Hill, now at #6.
Other standout victors include Tippling Club (#11), with its bar helmed by the creative and charismatic Joe Schofield; Atlas (#12), the new Art Deco-inspired bar in Singapore’s ‘Gotham City’ building that boasts a gin tower with almost 1000 labels; and Employees Only Singapore (#17) that always charms with its New Yorker-legacy. We’re also pleased to see NATIVE – you might’ve heard of its cocktails garnished with real ants – make its debut on this list at (#20), as well as The Other Room (#35) that won us over last year with the expertise of Master Bartender, Dario Knox.
