Your favourite cartoon heroes are back for their 20th anniversary concert on 25 November at The Star Performing Arts Centre
Come on Barbie, let’s go party – if that line’s a mainstay in your karaoke session, then you’ll wanna keep your calendar free for this. The cartoon heroes behind hits like “Barbie Girl”, “Roses Are Red” and “Turn Back Time”, Aqua is making one more splash on our shores in November for their 20th anniversary. Don’t you dare deny it: you’re as stoked for this as all of us.
Undoubtedly one of the biggest pop sensations in the world in the late ’90s, the campy and chirpy Danish group brought smiles to everyone who came upon their music. They fused jumpy Euro-pop beats with cheesy, sing-a-long lyrics about “life in plastic” and “calling Dr. Jones” amongst other fantastical matters – perfect party music for both kids and grown-ups (especially after you’ve had a drink or two).
And to be honest, we never thought this gig would be possible considering how the group broke up in 2001. So really, this might be your last chance to catch Aqua before they disappear once more into the depths.
Yes, we know you’re memorised every word of “Barbie Girl” – it’s all been leading up to this one moment.
