It almost feels impossible to look AND feel good during pregnancy especially when you can feel like a bloated beached whale. So we spoke to two soon-to-be-mums to draw inspiration on their fashionable maternity styles
The closer we get to our due dates, the more we seem to not care about what we wear or for the matter of fact, find things that we CAN wear. Some days we run out of things to wear and avoid people all together but for two soon-to-be mums who have known each other since they were 15 years old, riding the pregnancy wave together has been effortlessly stylish. So in order to gather inspiration, we sat down with local fashion brands Musee and Margot and Sage owners to get 5 tips on what to wear during these growing times.
1. Go with the trends and don’t be afraid to mix different textures
Onie: I currently love velvet and I sometimes mix that in with jeans. The mismatch may seem weird but after you throw it on, the different textures play out quite nicely.
2. Your favorite pieces can be worn as many times as you wish.
Onie: Being extremely versatile is key and borrowing each staple from whatever that fits us from the wardrobe! The easiest things to wear for me are yoga pants so I work the other pieces based on that. I add something like a long vest to hide the fact that I’m wearing my workout clothes post-pilates. The upside is that no one will ever judge you for wearing yoga pants throughout your pregnancy because they’re too busy watching your belly grow.
3. When you get stuck, go with monochrome palettes
Celine: Monochrome palettes may seem boring but they are also the color palettes that make any outfit more put-together.

4. Be flexible and don’t get frustrated when choosing outfits.
Celine: You don’t have to have the same dress sense because you are not you before you got pregnant. Besides, nothing will ever fit your growing body so you might as well make it work. My style has definitely changed and reach for things that are more feminine in nature for practicality purposes. Like skirts and dresses because they are the most comfortable to wear.
5. Don’t forget to accessorize or do the bare minimum
Celine: Little things like a scarf, bracelets or earrings help bring out an outfit that may look drab and boring. Putting makeup on also makes a world of difference even though I really don’t feel like it. It doesn’t have to be full glam but it helps to draw on your eyebrows and put in a bit of blush and makes me feel good nevertheless to get out of the house looking proper and awake.
