Call yourself a sweet tooth? You’ll love the new Lewis and Carroll at Senayan City, where you can enjoy lots of sweet treats at its dessert bar!
By now, you must have heard of Lewis and Carroll. After opening its first location in Jalan Bumi, the tea house quickly became famous for its prettily packaged artisanal teas that went well with brunch, lunch and dinner. As time went by, Lewis and Carroll opened two more branches with different concepts: a flower market in Grand Indonesia, and its latest, the brand new dessert bar at Senayan City.
Lewis and Carroll Dessert Bar still shares the same comforting main dishes as their other two branches, but their latest location highlights a wider selection of desserts. Staying true to its main concept as the master of craft tea blends, the tea house also offers a suggested tea pairing for each of their sweet treats.
The dessert bar offers 12 never-seen-before exciting confections, with dishes like Banana Nest, Rice, Violet, Mochi Brulee, and Tiramisu quickly becoming the favourites of customers. The first dish, Banana Nest, uses crispy banana, pink banana jelly, cheddar, chocolate, caramel and vanilla ice cream. The flavours go perfectly with Iced Pineapple Paradise, a fruity tea that has a hint of sourness to balance out the sweet.
If you love desserts with unique flavours, we recommend trying the Rice dish, which tastes like burnt rice (in a good way, promise!) The delicious combination of roasted rice ice cream, black rice cracker, rice cake, and decadent chocolate mousse pairs incredibly with the Hot Golden Genmaicha – the tea and dessert make a perfect match as they both taste and smell the same!
Panna cotta has been one of Lewis and Carroll’s standout desserts since the very beginning, so getting the Violet is mandatory. The Violet is a cardamom panna cotta that comes with lime granita and blackberry sable. As the sweetest dish we tried, it blends well with the Pick Me Up Tea, which has a sweet flowery fragrance, served hot to balance the sweetness of the dessert.
The last two desserts, Mochi Brulee and Tiramisu, are our personal favourites. The vanilla creme brulee comes with torched mochi (yum!), homemade granola (perfect for healthy eaters!) and goma or black sesame ice cream. It pairs well with the sweet Iced Arabian Night. Last but not least, you can never go wrong with Tiramisu. Served in a chocolate shell, the tiramisu has coffee jelly and chocolate soil that tastes like Oreo crumbs, and to top it off, it comes with a pot of not-too-sweet Hot Amber Houjicha.
Whether it’s in the morning, the afternoon or the evening, there will always be room for dessert (and tea!) when you’re at Lewis and Carroll. And while you’re here, the sweet treats are not the only thing you get to enjoy. The soothing ambiance, complete with its wooden décor and floor-to-ceiling window overlooking the fish pond at Senayan City’s Crystal Lagoon, is another thing we love the most about Lewis and Carroll Dessert Bar.
