Clear your diaries ladies and gents, Indoestri’s premiere annual free open house returns to West Jakarta from 25-26 November 2017.
Bored of the usual things to do in Jakarta? Rather than a standard weekend sleep-in, make the most of your Saturday and Sunday by grabbing your bestie and heading up to Indoestri Makerspace, which hosts their famed open house, Indoestri Day, from 25 to 26 November.
There are loads of fun activities to do at this event – get crafty and try your hand at one of their fun workshops this year supported by Lee Jeans. On Saturday, there’s a 5 Panel Hat Making class where aspiring makers can make their very own topper from scratch! Led by Zulfiqar Yahya of Batavia Jeans Studio, by the end of the class you’ll get to bring home with you. Meanwhile, Sunday visitors get to learn how to sew their very own Denim Work Shorts – how nifty is that?
If you need some inspiration to get those creative juices flowing, walk through the massive makerspace where you can enjoy exhibitions and live demonstrations from past makers. That includes Silversmithing Demo by Kal Akkara, Ukulele Making Demo by Andi Mahardika, Weaving Demo by Irene Yuliana, Leather Product Making Demo by Leonard Theosabrata, Denim Jeans Making Demo by Zulfiqar Yahya of Batavia Jeans Studio, Bookbinding & Leather Product Making Demo by Indoestri Makers, Macramé Wall Hanging Making Demo by Janet Jane of Fiber Motel, and more to be announced. There’s even a #MadeInIndoestri talkshow panel hosted by the founder of Indoestri himself, Leonard Theosabrata. Plus, you can even snag freebies like customized artwork by local illustrators Jamal M. Aziz and Muchlis Fachri, and print photos for FREE courtesy of HP Indonesia. In fact, make sure you snap away as you can stand a chance to win a IDR 1,000,000 Indoestri voucher if you post the most interesting shot of the day using #HPxIndoestri on social media.
As always you should also check out the Pasar Indoestri at Dawn and Willow to pick up some local trinkets made by young makers. Some of the Sukkha Citta, Dimanja Bumi, Imaji Studio, Atiya Living, Goodvibes, Taman Hayat and many more. If you’re feeling peckish, local hawkers from Three Folks, Petik Petik, Tema Tea, Cotton and Tarlets, Donut Ogud, and Guten Morgen will be peddling delicious goodies to feed the hungry masses.
If you’ve never been to this impressive makerspace and don’t have a clue of where to saunter off to, well, the friendly Indoestri Team will be on hand to give you the grand tour. Trust us, it’s well-worth checking out.
