In this edition of Hot New Tables: Bottega Ristorante, AB Steak, Rock Paper Scissors, La Posta, and Nebula Kuningan
If you’re keeping count, fasting season is almost upon us and we’re just about past the half-year mark! Luckily, there are loads of incredible new eateries popping up to tide us over. From old favourites with new locations to entirely new dining concepts, here are the restaurant openings we’re excited about in Jakarta this month.
Chef Akira Back strikes again, this time around rolling out AB Steak, a modern American steakhouse with Korean flair. Choose from house aged steaks like Bone-in New York Strip or Kiwami Wagyu Top Sirloin, and add on standout dishes like wagyu tartare with roasted bone marrow on brioche toast, foie gras bibim with fried poached egg, and duck fat fries with mushroom bulgogi and truffle oil. If that still doesn’t quite do it for you, end on a sweet note with butter mochi cake (with salted caramel popcorn!) or an assortment of housemade ice cream in flavours like soy bean powder, Bori-Cha (barley) and yuzu. Yum.

Bottega Ristorante is not your casual Little Italy joint. If you’re there for dinner, the restaurant menu is a trip around the world, serving everything (and we mean everything) from gyros to steak frites and fried rice to pizza. Its new location in the entertainment district of Fairgrounds boasts a lively atmosphere, sleek leather booths, and a popping art deco bar where you start your night with an aperitif, and end it with a jaunt over to the attached Dirty Laundry, a brandy and cognac-focused drinking den with killer music.

Rock Paper Scissors
Rock Paper Scissors is another modern Asian eatery with a global twist that leans towards comforting Japanese cuisine. That may sound like a mouthful, but you’ll see why with chicken kara-age with Sriracha aioli, miso butter scrambled eggs, gyu nasi goreng, and tobiko tagliatelle all on the menu. Fusion to the max. If you’re there after hours, we dare you to order up a steaming pot of their Hot Spring: a fruity cocktail concoction that comes in different strengths to give you liquid courage. Intriguing.

La Posta by Taste of Argentina
If you’ve long been a fan of Taste of Argentina’s incredible BBQ catering, here’s a reason to celebrate: they have finally opened up their own brick-and-mortar location. La Posta serves up authentic North Argentinian cooking, churning out traditional flaky empanadas stuffed with your choice of filling whether it’s meats or cheese, and juicy Argentinian steaks taken fresh off the grill and cooked to perfection. You’re also going to want to make room for dessert, because there is just no way you can miss out on their signature Argentine Bread Pudding.

Bali’s award-winning Nebula is bringing island-vibes over to the concrete jungle of Kuningan CBD. They are currently only serving their fresh Bowls of Heaven and the famous Seniman Coffee, but we’ll be getting breakfast and brunch menus to look forward to soon. Can’t wait!
Nebula Kuningan, Jl. Dr. Ide Anak Agung Gde Agung Lot. 8.9/A9, Mega Kuningan, South Jakarta.
