From The Kooks to Snakehips and Cosmo's Midnight to TroyBoi, here are the eight acts that we are itching to see.
Less than two weeks to this year’s We The Fest! The summer’s hottest festival in the region is fast approaching, and as artists as eclectic as Phoenix and Big Sean headline the three-day summer festival, we’re counting down our festival prep list. With so many notable artists on the bill, it’s hard to decide who to see first. If you need a bit of inspo, take a look at which sets our team are looking forward to catching this year. Pssttt…we also have THREE pairs of day-passes to the festival to giveaway – one for each day. Scroll all the way to the bottom to find out how you can snag a pair.
Natalia Christie (Graphic Designer): Lany and TroyBoi
I’m looking forward to seeing Lany and TroyBoi the most. I love listening to Lany when I’m just laying down or when the day is slow, so they should be fun for a proper live sing-along session. As for TroyBoi, I usually listen to him when I want to get a little pumped up and it’s a festival so there should be a bit of party going on!
Meita Twivianti (Account Manager): The Kooks and Hot Chip
One of the artists I’m looking forward to seeing the most is The Kooks, they were captivating when they made their debut to the whole world (and still are) with uplifting and easy listening tunes that honestly fits to everyone’s taste. They always come across as being cool but quirky in interviews, and honestly what’s not to love about these good looking Brits? The other set I’m looking forward to the most is Hot Chip’s DJ set! One Life Stand is one of my favourite songs from them. Their songs are always vibrant and danceable despite their actually depressing lyrics. Can’t wait to catch them live!
Shinta Dharmayu (Visual Content Creator): Cosmo’s Midnight and Elephant Kind
I can’t wait to see Cosmo’s Midnight – I discovered this twin duo in 2015 with their song Snare while in Bali. Their tunes are very chilled and relaxing, perfect for long drives in the car or zoning out by the beach while getting my tan. The second set I’m excited for is Elephant Kind. These dudes are my favourite Indonesian band for this era. I have watched them grow and creatively produce music tunes that are uncommon to the Indonesian ear. Stepping outside their comfort zone, they have managed to make a name for themselves through these past few years. A mixture of pop and modern rock, they will always surprise me with chills up my spine each time they perform live. Since it’s been a while since I’ve seen them play live, I’m excited to see what else do they have in store at We The Fest this year.
Thalia Yanuar (Editor): Snakehips and Shura
Brits always seem to do it better! I first saw Snakehips at a festival in Brighton and they were loads of fun so I’m excited to see them play in my hometown, whereas Shura is just dreamy. Her songs give you the tingles, and I can’t wait to hear what she’ll sound like live.
