Lyon is easily one of our go-to French restaurants in Jakarta. Located in the Mandarin Oriental, the elegant eatery serves outstanding modern French classics like delicious steak frites and our favourite dish, the perfectly done dover sole. Service is always impeccable, and their famous profiteroles are some of the best in town.

Ristorante Da Valentino
Lovers of classic Italian food should definitely pay Ristorante Da Valentino a visit, but do be warned: there is a hefty price tag that comes with that delicious meal for two. Everything on the menu is prepared using only fresh ingredients of the highest quality that are flown in regularly from out of the country, but the food is mouthwatering to the core. The decadently creamy burrata is unlike any we’ve ever had in Jakarta, and that lovely ooze of cheese alone has us coming back for more.
Ristorante Da Valentino, MD Place, 11th floor, Jl. Setiabudi Selatan No. 7, South Jakarta, p. +62 21 2905 7888.
Hoping to rid of the notion that Indonesian food tastes best on the streets, 1945 is Jakarta’s latest newcomer in the growing scene of Indonesian fine dining. The restaurant really does elevate familiar local fare like satay and tahu with style, flair, and fantastic presentation that is on par with more recognisable fine gastronomy. That doesn’t mean that 1945 compromises on taste, only the best ingredients are used to ensure the food retains its authentic flavour.

A longtime favourite of ours, il Mare is a fine dining establishment that serves excellent Northern Italian fare. Loyal regulars will tell you that il Mare is hands down one of the best restaurants in Jakarta, boasting exceptional service and even better food. Their pastas are incredible, but if you’re daring for something a little heartier, we recommend the black angus steak with foie gras and truffle. Also, do not even think about skipping out on the best tiramisu in town, even if you must share.

Located at The Dharmawangsa, Sriwijaya takes pride in the culture of Indonesia and the country’s famous Kingdom of Sriwijaya in the 8th century. If you’re a fan of both French and Indonesian cuisine, this restaurant is the perfect place for you, as Indonesian flavours and ingredients are fused with French cooking technique. Sriwijaya’s degustation menu also pairs well with their extensive list of wines, but if you feel like having a more casual dining experience, you can also opt for their a la carte menu.

Rosso, which is Italian for “red”, lives up to its name through the ambiance. The sofas and chairs are decked out in red, giving out a bold and romantic vibe to the Italian restaurant. Located at Shangri-La Hotel, Rosso offers authentic Southern Italian cuisine that is largely influenced by the culture and natural resources of Sicily, where the Head Chef Gianfranco Pirrone came from.
