Love margaritas? This classic cocktail gets the bespoke treatment as top watering holes Savoi, De Luca, Lucy in the Sky, Por Que No, Wilshire, Super Loco and Publik Markette give their take on the beloved drink.
Did you know that 22 February is Margarita Day? Well now you do! To celebrate, some of the city’s top bars are whipping up their very own take on the classic cocktail for the first-ever Cuervo Margarita Festival taking place from 12 to 25 February. That’s just in time for a boozy Valentine’s date – or an even more perfect anti-Valentine’s Day date if you ask us. Because any excuse to sip on a good margarita, amirite?
What’s in a perfect margarita? Kicky lime juice, salt, and a hefty serving of Jose Cuervo of course. But to take the classic cocktail up to another level, expert mixologists from Savoi, De Luca, Lucy in the Sky, Por Que No, Wilshire, Super Loco and Publik Markette are adding in their own ingredients to dish out their fine take on the margarita. At Savoi, the Golden Kyuri Margarita is made with mojito mint syrup and Japanese gome; De Luca’s Forbidden Kiss uses a dash of elderflower and egg white; Lucy In The Sky’s Lucy Daisy Margarita has a splash of grapefruit juice, and homemade grapefruit soda with homemade spice honey. Choco-holics should get on up to Por Que No, where their Chocolate Margarita is served with cream de cacao brown, bittersweet chocolate half salt and chocolate on rim; Wilshire’s Slippery Panties uses apricot brandy, lemon juice, orgeat syrup and angostura bitter; Super Loco’s Sangria For Two is perfect for sharing, while Publik Markette’s The Frozita with rose and passion fruit sorbet is the perfect drink for a hot Jakarta day.
Seven margarita cocktails, Honeys, that’s one cocktail to try every day of the week (and then some). Click through the slideshow below to check out all the creative concoctions you need to try.
