Looking for the perfect pram? We hung out with the mumpreneurs and founders of Living Loving as they test-drove the latest Bugaboo Bee3 stroller around the Big Durian.
Urban mumpreneurs who are constantly on-the-go know that when you’re running your empire with kids in tow, you’re going to need one heck of a super stroller to make going around the city a whole lot easier. Between photo shoots, running errands and catching a break over coffee, Nike and Miranti of Living Loving road tested the new Bugaboo Bee3 pram for Honeycombers Jakarta. The two founders of Jakarta’s first dedicated home and living blog quit their office jobs to start Living Loving in 2013, which since then has evolved into an enthusiastic community of craft meet-ups and events that range from organic essential oils workshops to tapestry weaving classes. When you’re busy zipping around from one end of the Big Durian to the other all day long, a seriously sweet ride is essential. We got to sit down with the two mumpreneurs and their daughters Kira and Sabria, both 4.5 years old, at local hangout SRSLY Coffee as they chatted to us about why they loved the latest Bugaboo Bee3 pram.
Hi ladies! What are your first impressions of the new Bugaboo Bee3? How does it make your life easier?
Miranti: The Bugaboo Bee3 is so easy to maneuver. When you’re pushing the pram, its wheels run so smoothly in comparison to other strollers we’ve used before. My favourite feature is that the Bugaboo Bee 3 has a reversible seat, which makes it really suitable for younger babies and newborns. You want to be able to easily monitor your baby when you’re strolling around town, and it’s nice that your baby can see your face too so that they will always feel safe.
Nike: I love that the Bugaboo Bee3 is compact, lightweight and stylish – it’s simple to use and such a great pram for urban families. We were able to easily figure out how to fold and unfold the pram so we could store it in our car as we drove around the city. We love the fact that the pram works for both babies and toddlers, as previously, my husband and I had to buy two strollers within the span of three years! When Kira was a baby, we had a stroller for newborns, and once she turned 2, we had to get a bigger stroller for toddlers. With the Bugaboo Bee3, you only need one pram!
What do you love to do together as a family in Jakarta? Where do you like to go out together?
Nike: Kira is an active little lady who loves the outdoors. We love traveling, exploring beaches, parks, rivers… Any place that is really beautiful and scenic. My husband and I enjoy wandering around to faraway places where we get to experience new things – road trips are our favourite! Since we live in Bintaro, there are a few parks and playgrounds to walk around in like Menteng Park, Bintaro Xchange Mall, and Taman Langsat. The Bugaboo Bee3 is a great stroller for walking in the park because it has bigger wheels than the strollers that I’m used to, so the ride is more stable. It’s great for the outdoors. It’s a great indoor/outdoor pram.
Miranti: We live in East Jakarta so we’re always driving to South – because all the nice cafes are in South! We’ll drive to the mall – Kota Kasablanka and Mal Kelapa Gading are some of our favourites because they always have family-friendly activities going on. Sabria also loves exploring bookstores where she can spend hours going through books or playing with pens and notebooks, and the library, particularly Perpustakaan Daerah in TIM. She also keeps asking to be brought back to IKEA even though we’ve only been there once!
Let us in on a little secret: what’s your favourite boutique store in Jakarta?
Nike: Linoluna in Kemang Village is an amazing home design store, I love everything about it. I also love Cayenne in Kemang for home decor. They have storage units in every shape and size – perfect for an organised Virgo like me!
Miranti: LoF (Lots of Flowers), a flowers and gifts store in Cipete. It’s a great spot for taking photos, and has lots of amazing bits and bobs like masking tapes, party supplies and succulents.
Would you recommend the Bugaboo Bee3 to a friend?
Nike: Of course! It’s lightweight, practical and reversible.
Miranti: It’s perfect for all ages, since there’s the removable seat and option for bassinets.
