Brace yourselves, Japanese cheese tart lovers! BAKE Cheese Tart is oozing into the Big Durian - get ready to queue!
Confession: due to the major queues that snaked around the other Japanese cheese tart locations in Jakarta, we seriously contemplated keeping this one to ourselves. Alas, sharing is caring, and so after years of being in serious sweet tooth envy of our sisters in Singapore and Hong Kong, we were beyond thrilled to find out that the O.G. Hokkaido cheese tart company BAKE is actually opening in Jakarta on 28 September 2017!
While we haven’t yet found a Hokkaido cheese tart that we haven’t loved, we have to admit that BAKE sits at the top. What makes BAKE better than all the rest? These twice baked mini cheese tarts have a melt-in-your-mouth custard-like filling that is made with four, FOUR, types of cheeses (three from Hokkaido and one from France, because these are fancy cheese tarts) and a crunchy, buttery crust. Despite the fact that we would happily cram these mini tarts into our mouths by the dozen, there is nothing more satisfying that slicing a freshly-BAKEd tart in half to watch the sweet and savoury melted cheese filling just ooze out onto the plate. Yes, we are already drooling.
BAKE Cheese Tarts go for IDR 29,000 a pop, whereas IDR 165,000 will get you a box of six (and if you’re like us you’d never only get one piece anyway.) Mark your calendars, and see you there!
