1. Try the world’s first cardio with Drum play!
Have you heard about POUND? It’s a new means to do full-body cardio by pretending to play the drums. As fun as it sounds, it is believed to burn at least 900 calories in a 45-minute class. 2. Catch a free street performance of France’s giant doll show
Les Grandes Personnes is a street art performance like you’ve never seen before. Since 1998, these larger than life puppets incorporates the art of doll-making and live performing. Similar to Jakarta’s famous Ondel-Ondel, the artist takes to the streets with these giant dolls to tell their story. Enjoy free performances during Jakarta’s Car Free Day on 9 July and on Thursday 13 July at the Kota Tua district. 3. Discover trinkets at Pop On Plaza
Pop On Plaza at Plaza Indonesia is an exciting pop-up market where you can find an array of emerging local brands like lippie brand Rollover Reaction. The pop-up features different areas, our favourites being the POP Crave and POP On-The-Go areas where you can get our favourite salted egg dishes from Eatlah or get a cup of coffee with edible flower in it from Guten Morgen. Pop On Plaza is only open until the first week of August, so better hurry and make sure you visit all the stalls.
4. At last… Valar Morghulis!
We’ve been painfully counting down the days until the premiere of the 7th season Game of Thrones this 17 July. Although this one’s a shorter season (BOOO), we are just waiting to see what will top Cersei’s bad ass mass-killing last year. There’s still the yet-to-be-completed Stark reunion, Queen D’s troops march to Westeros, and, dare we hope, Jon Snow’s rise to throne? Our excitement has definitely reached fever pitch!
5. Learn the history of yoga in Indonesia
Expert Yogi Andrea Acri will unfold the history of Yoga tradition in Indonesia through a seminar conducted by Institut Francais Indonesie (IFI), taking place at its multi purpose hall on 13 July. This class also covers disclosures of some ancient sanskrit texts showing some Yoga tradition in the past such as Patanjala Yoga (classic yoga or yoga with eight body parts) and Shaiva Tantric yoga (yoga with six body parts). 6. Take your kids to play at a futuristic park
Team Lab Future Park at Plaza Indonesia is a futuristic playground that will amaze you and your little ones. Inside this room of fun, you’ll find incredible playing spots that use the most cutting-edge technology from Japan. Our favourite spot is the sketch aquarium where you can watch your drawings of sea animals come alive as they are scanned and projected into a huge digital fish tank. Senayan City is currently hosting the Jakarta Creative Pop Up Exhibition where you can find awesome Jakarta-themed goods like the famous Indonesian bowl’s Rooster printed on a tote bag, a cool Jak(ART)a cap, and nifty notebooks featuring drawings of the city’s landmarks and buildings.
8. Watch the all-new Spidey on the silver screen!
Spidey is back! Following its premiere screen time during the last Captain America: Civil War movie, Peter Parker is now web-gliding his way on his first solo movie. Not that we’re forgetting the legacies of Tobey Maguire and Andrew Garfield on the previous installments, we’re just so hyped with the fact that this Tom Holland version will be the very first Spiderman to be in the Marvel oh-so-amazing Cinematic Universe (at last!). Dia.Lo.Gue is now hosting T. Sutanto’s serigraphy exhibition: Berselingkuh dengan Masa Lalu Berkencan Dengan Masa Depan on view until 14 July. This is a collection of the maestro’s silkscreen prints (art of serigraphy) during his active years in Decenta, a design firm from Bandung he co-founded in 1973.

We’ve had the likes of Indomie burito and Indomie birthday cake buzzing all over the internet and it’s time for Indomie Fried Chicken (cos why not?) Guilty from Sydney, Australia was the first to invent this recipe and churning out the meal to sell in their restaurants. But why make the trip? The recipe is quite easy to follow at home. First step is to marinate a boneless chicken in Indomie’s seasoning overnight. Then coat it with a mixture of crushed noodles and powder flavouring to later fry it until golden.
