Party sailors and first mateys, who’s up for Round Three?! You guessed it – It’s The Ship 2016, the massive, out-of-this-world EDM music festival is back to rave and roam the open seas. If you were aboard the Royal Caribbean Mariner Of The Seas last year, you’ll know exactly what to expect. But say you don’t; imagine four straight days and nights of non-stop partying to club hits and hip-hop anthems, jumping into pools and hot tubs with barely-clothed ravers, recharging on free-flow food and cruise services, and repeating the cycle over and over again. Sounds like a hedonistic dream? Why do you think we’re so darn stoked?
While the line-up hasn’t been announced yet from Malaysian organisers, Livescape Asia – past editions have seen top-notch heavyweights such as Kaskade, Dash Berlin, Headhunterz, Lil Jon, My Nu Leng and more – they have revealed lil’ snippets of info that you might be interested in. Here are three things we already know about It’s The Ship 2016.
1) There’s No More Beach Party Stopover in Langkawi
Instead, the Royal Caribbean booze cruise will now set a course for the Pearl of the Orient in Penang. This island on the West Coast of Malaysia is renowned for being a UNESCO world cultural heritage site, boasting a vibrant food and arts scene which promises an astonishing change of scenery from the on-sea shenanigans. Beachy pop-up parties, we hope?
2) The voyage is no longer taking place in the end of November
Unlike It’s The Ship’s past two stints, 2016’s edition will now arrive much earlier, sailing off from Singapore’s Marina Bay Cruise Centre in the beginning of the month on 4-7 November. If you’re flying in from overseas or planning your leave accordingly (trust us, you might wanna consider this after the inevitable hangover you’ll get), do take note!
3) It now has to follow up on its first sold-out extravaganza
Due to growing demand and the consistency of quality, It’s The Ship bore witness to full-house capacity on its sophomore festival last year. While this fared well for business, it also meant that the organisers had plenty to re-adjust to accommodate the influx of ravers. Hopefully, they’ve taken some pointers, and will pull off an even smoother and more spectacular run this year.
