Sometimes you don’t want to be caught wearing the exact same Zara dress as three other people in your office right? Which is why we love this fashion shoot done by our amazing Honeycombers Jakarta team featuring the stunning Jakarta model Laras (she’s walked for Saint Laurent in Paris!). The creative team discovered some exciting dresses, jackets, suits, shoes, bags and accessories from emerging Indonesian brands.
The team was inspired by Laras’ trip to Paris – and the very Parisienne feel and decor of hip hotel The Gunawarman where the shoot was done (this is THE coolest place for afternoon tea). The team had so much fun doing the shoot, that they never wanted to leave!
The perfect Parisienne
Staying on trend, but very Parisienne, this look combines a soft, full-sleeved shirt with an elegant neck tie like this one from Pomelo, with a full skirt that nips in the waist and is super flattering for all body shapes, this one is also from Pomelo. Add a structured bag for a work vibe, and a pair of pointy-toed mules (another huge trend this season) to increase the girlie feel of your look. Oh, and a cute pair of socks really adds some fashion ‘edge’.
Laras wears Pomelo Vivienne Bow Tie Shirt, Rp. 279,000, and Pomelo Patti Buttoned Skirt, Rp. 209,000, with Doxology Black Doxogatha Bag, Rp. 699,000, and The Theme Cleopatra Long Pearl Earrings, Rp. 188,000, with Teresa Mutiara Sandals, Ribbon Mules, Rp. 1,600,000, and Tiny Islands Jewellery Rie ring, Rp. 425,000. Elegant layers
One of the easiest ways to add a touch more style to your look is to layer up, but of course we don’t want to be wearing too much in Jakarta’s hot weather, so go for a cute skirt like this denim one from Pomelo and wear it under an on-trend dress with an interesting neckline or waist detail, like this one also from Pomelo. The best thing about adding the longer skirt underneath is that you get a little bit more coverage making a weekend dress more office appropriate. Tip: If you’re going with denim-on-denim or denim-on-blue colour tones, add a different shade for your bag and shoes for more visual interest.
Laras is wearing Pomelo Gia Cut Out Shoulder Shirt Dress, Rp. 409,000, over the Pomelo Talia High Waist Denim Skirt, Rp. 249,000. Earrings are the Translucent Red Foou earrings, Rp. 425.000 by Tam Illi, with the Lungsin Larasati bucket bag, Rp. 1,275,000, and Christian Wu Cath mules, Rp. 1,999,000.

Focus on the details
When it comes to Paris-inspired style, go for a few standout details rather than loads of patterns, colours or embellishment. This simple overdress in denim blue from Pomelo combined with a tonal blue shirt with nice shoulder details is a great backdrop for a stunning pair of earrings, a chic bag, and a punch of sporty colour from these Winston Smith loafers. Tip: Blue is always a great choice as a ‘basic’ colour; denim goes with just about everything after all.
Laras is wearing a Pomelo Felicia Bow Tie Shirt, Rp. 349,000, under the Pomelo Momoka Sleeveless Jumper, Rp. 279,000, with Tam Illi Red Yellow Blue Chunta Earrings, Rp. 415,000, Winston Smith Pink Chelsea slip-on sneakers, Rp. 1,599,000, and Lungsin Sita bag, Rp. 1,875,000. #supportlocal … Tam Illi jewellery
We totally LOVE these hand-made earrings from Tam Illi. The colours are so vibrant and the detailing is quite stunning. These earrings are perfect conversation-starters, but more importantly they’re made in Indonesia by designer Natasha Jasmin Aprilia. The brand started out as a hobby in 2013, but Natasha has been going full time since 2016. Tam Illi designs are based on Natasha’s desire to create very feminine jewellery that looked different from typical styles which is why she focused on flowers as an underlying concept. Black & White always looks chic
Yes, yes, we realise this isn’t a new idea; but sometimes classics really are the best option. A new way of wearing black & white is to go for a print, like this Pomelo dress, mixed with a solid like this long vest. Even more modern is to add a white shoe instead of the usual black; punch up your look with a brightly coloured pair of earrings and you’re doing black & white the modern way.
Laras is wearing the Pomelo Antoinette Long Sleeve Printed Dress, Rp. 379,000, with the Evangeline Long Vest, Rp. 499,000, over the top, with shoes from Ang Studio, Rp. 900,000, a Doxology Doxotote bag, Rp. 649,000, and Giwang Clara earrings, Rp. 119,000. Socks are Creative Director’s own.

#shoplocal … Doxology bags
The minimalist lines of Jakarta bag brand Doxology are super sophisticated and very grown-up; perfect for finishing off a professional workwear look. We love that this Indonesian brand is really affordable to. The founder of the brand Chung Yi says that they prefer to use PU leather because it’s really durable as well as being more affordable. Shop Doxology bags at www.bobobobo.com/doxology.
Add a touch of ‘model off-duty’ style
How do you get that ‘I’ve just come off the Saint Laurent catwalk’ look? By mixing up some cute, basic pieces with some out-there stunning jewellery and a pair of funky slides, that’s how. We used a simple plaid shirt dress tied at the waist to add some definition to this cute day dress and combined them with a stunning necklace and matching bracelet from Tam Illi, plus a pair of fun slides from Marista Santividya. Laras looks like she’s off to her next catwalk show, right?
Laras wears Pomelo Nikita Ruffle Hem Dress, Rp. 369,000, and Kadri Plaid Button Up Shirt Dress, Rp. 329,000, tied at the waist; Tam Illi Translucent Chain Halleri necklace, Rp. 625,000 (pre-order), and Tami Illi Translucent Chain Halleri Bracelet, Rp. 575,000 (pre-order), with Marista Santividya Kiko Kembang slides, Rp. 989,000. Menswear inspired for day to evening
If you’re talking about Paris style, you can’t go past Le Smoking as a concept for smart workwear. The best thing about wearing an elegant menswear-inspired suit is that it’s the perfect day-to-evening outfit. We’ve given the look a bit of a sexy edge with this version featuring a semi-transparent top under the suit jacket; but the wide-legged pants combined with the slouchy jacket make sure it’s not too revealing. Keep the heels low, and swap in a neat button-down shirt for daytime wear in the office.
Laras is wearing Ang Studio Union Pinstripe blazer, Rp. 675,000, with Ang Studio Union Pinstripe trousers, Rp. 425,000, with Marista Santividya flat velvet Selop mules, Rp. 639,000. Sheer shirt is model’s own.

A statement necklace
One of the easiest ways to add a bit more style to your basic office outfit of shirt and pants or shirt and skirt, is to wear a statement necklace. We love this one from Indonesian brand The Theme which we’ve matched with a white shirt with an interesting waist detail from Pomelo and soft blue cropped pants. We tied in the black necklace with fun statement black slides and of course, a fun pair of socks.
Laras wears Pomelo Jacky Tie Waist Shirt, Rp. 299,000, and Pomelo Bette Cropped Pants, Rp. 249,000, with The Theme Katniss necklace, Rp. 525,000, with Lungsin Larasati bucket bag, Rp. 1,275,000, and Christian Wu Blake mules, Rp. 1,999,000. Socks are Creative Editor’s own.

Soft suit with a popped collar
Suits for work don’t have to be boring. Choose a soft feminine colour like this ‘milennial’ pink jacket and pants from Ang Studio. Add a sharp white shirt for a more business-like look, and a nice piece of statement jewellery doesn’t go amiss either.
Laras is wearing Ang Studio Philosopher Overcoat, Rp. 625,000, and Ang Studio Philosopher Pants, Rp. 390,000; with The Theme Audax Necklace, Rp. 550,000; Tam Illi Translucent Foou earrings, Rp 425.000; Winston Smith Natalia lace-up flat shoes, Rp 1.599.000, and the Doxology Green Doxoombre Pouch, Rp 349.000.

Focus on beautiful details
Another way to add some Paris style to your daily work outfit is to go for some delicate details … Choose a simple top, like this one from Ang Studio that has a great sleeve detail, then add some delicate but strong pieces of jewellery to make your look pop.
Laras wears Ang Studio Promenade Top, Rp. 790,000, with From Tiny Islands Ishi Earrings, Price unavailable; and From Tiny Islands Birthstone series ring, Rp. 425,000 and From Tiny Islands Rei rings, Rp. 425,000.

#supportlocal … From Tiny Islands jewellery
The pretty, delicate detailed pieces of jewellery by Indonesian brand From Tiny Islands are the perfect finishing touch for just about any outfit. We love the slightly off-beat feel of these rings and earrings – they have a very on-trend look, very Korean – that are still dainty enough for everyday wear. The brand was launched by Jane Odelia Lukman and Nathalisa Octavia in 2013, and the concept for From Tiny Islands is based on their love of travel. Originally the creative pair sourced pieces from other artisans before deciding to create their own hand-made line of jewellery with materials from around Indonesia.
A big shout out to the Honeycombers Jakarta team, our amazing model Laras, the super stylish stylist Aldi, the lovely Sissy & Yusti for makeup and hair, and of course the super helpful team at The Gunawarman.
