How I get it done: Victoria Chuard<\/h2>\n

What is your backstory and why did you decide to launch your business?<\/h3>\n

When I was pregnant with my first child, I fell in love with some beautiful, eco-conscious baby brands from around the world. But in Hong Kong, the selection was limited. So, I started a small online shop from my living room, introducing international brands<\/strong> to Hong Kong (often start-ups), and eventually managed to build the biggest cloth diaper selection in the city. (I became passionate about cloth diapering specifically, because my son suffered from eczema which was exacerbated by disposable diapers; we even started hosting workshops to help parents adopt cloth diapering.)<\/p>\n

While helping families, I learnt about the lack of reusable diaper solutions that truly worked for the modern parent. So, during Covid downtime, I created Just Peachy with a design-patented diaper<\/strong> that addressed wetness sensitivity, pull-up convenience, and heavy wetting. Parents tell me it really works, because our design was 100% solutions-driven! Then, after my kids were potty-trained, I realised that there were little options for comfortable, sustainable underwear<\/strong> options for my kids. This inspired me to develop the Feel Good kids underwear collection using natural fibres at Just Peachy.\u00a0Now, my kids won\u2019t wear anything else and that\u2019s the only validation I need!<\/p>\n

What has been your biggest challenge so far and how did you overcome it?<\/h3>\n

The decision to shift our focus<\/strong> from our multi-brand maternity and baby boutique to solely growing Just Peachy was an emotionally challenging one. I couldn’t help but feel sad, driven by a sense of responsibility to the families in our community who relied on us for accessible, high-quality, and practical products. However, the impact of Covid on consumer behaviour, especially for value-driven brands, forced me to reflect on the changing landscape<\/strong> and the need to prioritise.<\/p>\n

Seeking guidance from entrepreneurial communities like Launchpad<\/strong> became crucial. I sought clarity on my vision, reconnecting with my “why” to drown out the noise and redefine the next chapter of this entrepreneurial journey. It’s been a period of introspection and transformation, one that’s allowed me to reshape my business and embrace the possibilities that lie ahead.<\/p>\n

How do you stay motivated and energised?<\/h3>\n

Just Peachy is a passion project for me. Every time a parent approaches me to tell me how glad they were to have converted to cloth diapering because of our easy-to-adopt diaper, or how their child won\u2019t wear anything other than Just Peachy\u2019s underwear, it makes my day and gives me the energy to keep going. Many kids love Just Peachy’s underwear simply because it\u2019s so comfortable, but for a child who has sensitive skin, like my son, or tactile sensory sensitivities, it\u2019s the only solution for them. I think it\u2019s so important to do what you feel passionate about, because everything else will follow in due course.<\/p>\n

How do you deal with self-doubt or criticism?<\/h3>\n

At heart, I’m a people-pleaser, so I don\u2019t naturally deal with criticism well and I’m definitely guilty of being my own worst critic. Recently, I\u2019ve learnt and have been trying to adopt some new strategies to deal with this, such as building up the habit of noticing the things that went well because, with practice, the mind becomes conditioned to see the positive in things and that\u2019s key to long-term happiness. So, try this with me: Name three things that went well everyday, no matter how big or small.<\/p>\n

Favourite place(s) to work?<\/strong> On my phone. There\u2019s a plethora of productivity tools that are available on the phone these days, and I like to tackle things as they come to mind (never know when genius strikes!), so what\u2019s better than having your work at your fingertips (literally)?<\/p>\n

One productivity trick?<\/strong> Someone once shared with me that if something comes up that you can tackle within five minutes, do it now. Just don\u2019t forget to carve out time and space for the balance in your life, too!<\/p>\n

What’s your work mantra?<\/strong> Ikigai: Find what you love, do what you’re great at, share it with the world, and let it bring you purpose and fulfilment.<\/p>\n

One thing you can keep talking about for hours?<\/strong> Personal growth, mindset, and discovering who you are at your core and what you can achieve or become. I believe people are constantly discovering and evolving. I also love hearing about other people’s journeys and aspirations.<\/p>\n

Your go-to self-care activity?<\/strong> Sharing a meal with family or friends. It takes my mind off everything else.<\/p>\n

One piece of advice to your younger self?<\/strong> Trust in yourself now and always. There’s nothing to fear!<\/p>\n
