From new dos at the top hair salons in Hong Kong<\/a> to affordable massages<\/a>, a little pampering can go a long way. And, for me, it\u2019s always been about fun nails that look good on the Honeycombers Instagram<\/a> and that put a smile on my face every day. So when Ooh La La Nails in Wan Chai asked if I wanted to come in to try their Russian manicure, I jumped at the chance. See what went on below.<\/p>\n

Good things come in small packages<\/h3>\n

The interior of the space is clean, minimal and white<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n

This little studio is conveniently located in the heart of Wan Chai. It was easy to find, and the premises are lovely and clean, decked out in crisp white. The owner, Christy, has been doing nails for years.<\/p>\n

The treatment<\/h3>\n

I could tell that Christy was a pro from the outset. As she was removing my old gel nails, she noticed some damage and suggested that she use hard gel to ensure that the nails lasted.<\/p>\n

At Ooh La La Nails, she focuses on Russian manicures, which is when an electronic file (rather than clippers) is used to remove the excess skin around the nail bed. The result is a perfectly trimmed nail bed that makes the nail art or polish look more slick.<\/p>\n

I had actually tried this once before, but found that Christy did a more thorough job at preparing the nails for the nail art itself, and I was excited to see how she tackled my design.<\/p>\n

The design<\/h3>\n

I\u2019m a huge fan of Andy Warhol, and I chose his popular 60s prints: \u2018Flowers\u2019 as the inspo for my design. Not knowing how she was going to tackle the unique design, Christy worked methodically to get the look just right, from the stems in the background to the way the dots sit in the centre of each flower, the details on each of my nails make each a true tiny work of art.<\/p>\n

How do they last?<\/h3>\n

While looking good is one thing (and a very big thing in my mind) you also want to make sure that your nails can last the distance. It\u2019s been two weeks, and I can confidently say that they still look as good as when they were done!<\/p>\n

I loved the whole service at Ooh La La Nails and will definitely be back for more, in fact, I\u2019m currently researching my next look… I\u2019m thinking… neon leopard print.<\/p>\n
