Gotta get out of Hong Kong for a short trip<\/a> or something longer? Thailand<\/a> is always a good idea, and Phuket\u2013with a flight time of just over three hours\u2013is one of our fave destinations. We recently stayed at Como Point Yamu on the east coast of the island, and we just have to spill the beans on this idyllic location that is stunningly beautiful and surrounded by the azure blue Andaman Sea on three sides: #heavenly<\/strong><\/p>\n

Paradise in Point Yamu<\/h3>\n

From the very point of arrival at Como Point Yamu, there\u2019s this epic feeling that you\u2019ve reached somewhere exceptionally unique. The first ever hotel project for famed Italian product design whizz Paola Navone, every single detail at the property is chic, heightening the natural beauty of the area rather than distracting from it.<\/p>\n

As soon as we stepped out of the car, I knew we were somewhere very special.<\/p>\n

Home away from home<\/h3>\n

We loved everything about our Bay Suite<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n

If your home home is anywhere near the standard of these rooms and villas, then you\u2019ve got it made. We stayed in a Bay Suite with views out over the ocean and a spacious living room that was kind of hard to leave. Navone has pulled the colour palette from the sea itself and created furniture and furnishings in blue tones that contrast bright white walls and natural pops of wood. The vibe is contemporary Thai, and from the circular bathtub to the blue tiles and the silver bowls that pepper the suite, the design is seamless. The fact that the bed is uber comfy just adds a cherry on the top.<\/p>\n

Eating and drinking<\/h3>\n

If you know the Como brand, you\u2019ll be familiar with Como Shambhala Cuisine (which has recently partnered with Singapore Airlines to produce a wellness menu on selected flights), a signature feature at their properties made to maximise energy and wellbeing. This essentially means that wherever you are dining, there will always be healthy options available that taste great and can be made to suit any dietary requirement – I love this.<\/p>\n

Breakfast is served at La Sirena, a stunning Italian restaurant with sea views, with a buffet of fresh fruits, juices, salads, breads and pastries. On top of this spread, you can choose from a selection of a la carte options, and the person who sleeps in my bed was absolutely obsessed with the hotel\u2019s version of bacon and eggs, serving the dish with sticky rice and a chili jam which he just couldn\u2019t get enough of.<\/p>\n

For me, I tried a few different options, including the delightful Real Toast, which is made of dehydrated nuts and seeds (amazing!) and comes topped with avocado, cucumber and tomatoes. One morning, I ordered the Egg White Omelette and was presented with the biggest, fluffiest egg dish I\u2019ve ever seen, and it was yummy to boot.<\/p>\n

The staff are so lovely and helpful, and when I asked for almond milk on the first morning, the waitress asked the chef to prepare some for me for the following morning to enjoy with my coffee. Now that\u2019s service!<\/p>\n

For Thai cuisine there\u2019s Nahmyaa, a lovely restaurant with a large menu serving some classics and some dishes with a contemporary twist. I spoke with Executive Chef Stephen Black while I was staying and he explained that he\u2019s using as much local produce as possible on the menu, including vegetables and herbs grown in their very own garden.<\/p>\n

Spa and wellness<\/h3>\n

Bliss out at Como Shambhala Retreat<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n

Como Shambhala Retreat is the signature health and wellness facility across the brand\u2019s properties, and it\u2019s a little slice of paradise. We enjoyed a blissful signature Como Shambhala Massage in a beautiful room with sea views. After your treatment, you can enjoy tea on the balcony and make use of the pool and Jacuzzi as you watch the day go by.<\/p>\n

The gym is well-equipped with TVs on the cardio equipment to help you get your steps in. There\u2019s also a list of daily activities that you can sign up for that include yoga, Muay Thai, cooking classes and more. It’s all these added extras that make this place stand out.<\/p>\n

Beach vibes<\/h3>\n

The beach club is a perfect day trip away from the hotel<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n

While the hotel may not sit directly on a beach, it makes up for this with its beach club, the perfect luxury day out. Just a 30-minute drive and a short boat ride from Point Yamu, and you\u2019ll be at the Como Beach Club on Naka Island. We enjoyed the day in a double cabana (complete with our own bathroom) and whiled away our time reading, swimming in the pool, swimming in the beach and eating food from the restaurant.<\/p>\n

And if that\u2019s not enough to convince you that you need to make a visit to Como Point Yamu, then maybe the fact that they make and serve natural ice blocks every day in the afternoon will get you on board. This was one of the loveliest hotels I\u2019ve had the pleasure of staying at, and I can\u2019t wait to get back there again soon.<\/p>\n
