You know that we\u2019re partial to exploring. We love hitting the streets of Kuala Lumpur<\/a>, getting lost in Okinawa<\/a> and embracing our inner hippie in Byron Bay<\/a>, but what to do when we want to stay closer to home? Thankfully, Four Seasons Hotel Shenzhen is an easy hop across the border to relaxing fun times filled with great food and exceptional service.<\/p>\n

Four Seasons Hotel Shenzhen brings the glam<\/h3>\n

The guest rooms at the hotel are well-designed and super roomy<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n

From the moment you step into Four Seasons Hotel Shenzhen, that signature service abounds, with friendly faces ready to help you around every corner. Beautiful artworks fill the property, from sculpture to painting, and there\u2019s even a fine art gallery where you can find inspiration (or perhaps the next piece for your collection!)<\/p>\n

We were lucky enough to try a signature Four Seasons Room, which was exceptionally spacious, and featured a living room, bathtub and a huge walk-in wardrobe. Views were of the beautifully verdant terrace\u2013where we could see a gorgeous wedding taking place, and the surrounding city skyline, where at night we saw an amazing light performance projected onto the buildings that looked incredible.<\/p>\n

The food situation<\/h3>\n

Zhuo Yue Xuan serves simply unbelievable Cantonese fare<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n

You won\u2019t be starved for choice at this hotel. There\u2019s Zhuo Yue Xuan for fine dining Cantonese cuisine (they are one of the only restaurants in Shenzhen to have a coveted One Diamond Black Pearl ranking), while Foo serves an exquisite breakfast, lunch and dinner buffet, with an array of barbecue counters in the evening. Yi Bar and Lounge has a wonderful selection of snacks (try the shitake mushrooms) and cocktails, and is the perfect place to start a night out of exploring, or if you prefer to stay in and watch movies, the room service menu is vast and affordable, making it a wonderful option too.<\/p>\n

Do yourself a favour and be sure to book a room with club lounge access because this lounge knows how to party! Every evening, they set out a full bar for you with cocktail recipes so you can make your own drinks. There\u2019s an excellent selection of food during this happy hour, and they also serve afternoon tea from 2:30pm, just in case you get those afternoon hunger pangs. Plus, you can opt to eat breakfast there, and while the choice is a little more limited than the epic spread at Foo, you still get the amazing Chinese and Western selections while missing the crowd downstairs (we say you need to try both options!)<\/p>\n

Indulge at Yue Spa<\/h3>\n

The pampering at Yue Spa is heavenly, and will leave you refreshed in no time<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n

A vacation isn\u2019t complete without a little pampering, so we indulged in the signature Eaglewood Massage at Yue Spa for a blissful 90 minutes. Eaglewood is a dark heartwood that comes from Aqualaria trees, and has long been used by nobles across China for medicinal purposes, as it helps aid with detoxification and blood circulation.<\/p>\n

The couples therapy room was huge, and featured our very own sauna, shower, and Jacuzzi, which we obviously took full advantage of during our spa time. The massage itself was perfect, getting rid of any knots but also bringing us to a wonderful state of zen, plus the Eaglewood tea and snacks served afterwards were a bonus.<\/p>\n

Other good bits<\/h3>\n

If you are pool enthusiasts like us, you\u2019re going to love Four Seasons Hotel Shenzhen, as they offer both an indoor and an outdoor option, plus an outdoor Jacuzzi which is heavenly. The gym is really well-sized with a full range of equipment, plus there\u2019s a yoga studio if you need space to practice your asanas.<\/p>\n

While I\u2019m not always a fan of brand-specific apps, the Chat feature on the Four Seasons mobile app is actually quite amazing. We arranged late check-out, ordered up some bath salts (boujee!) and even asked the concierge for suggestions all through my phone, no matter where in the city we were. Best of all, you\u2019re not talking with bots, but real people\u2013fluent in over 100 languages collectively, who know their stuff, and are super polite as well.<\/p>\n

Getting to Shenzhen<\/h3>\n

There are so many ways to get to Shenzhen now, including MTR, bus, taxi, ferry, and the recently-opened bullet train, meaning a trip north is easier than ever before. Just beware that if you need a visa to enter China and choose the latter, you\u2019ll need to get it in advance from the Chinese consulate in Hong Kong, as there are no facilities for immigration at Futian Station where the new high-speed rail arrives.<\/p>\n

MTR is probably the most popular option, as you can get a visa on arrival at Louhu Station, but honestly, we think that arranging a visa beforehand is the easiest option, as it saves you time in the long run, and once you\u2019ve had one China visa once, they usually let you get multiple-entry visas the next time, so you can visit Four Seasons Hotel Shenzhen on the regular.<\/p>\n
